What about us H-key guys? Do you plan on making a system for the non-push start tacos?

Kind of confused. request clarification. I read that the fob works while the engine is started... ie. you can unlock the doors while the engine is started via remote. this would lead me to think I could open the door and get in with the engine still running?
However the ordering page states that when the door is open the remote start will shut off.
Is this correct? so this work around is for a remote start (much cheaper) bit still had that undesirable quality of engine shut off when door opens? like I said... I'm just trying to clarify this. thanks...

The truck does shut off when the door is opened as you mentioned. By default, the fob is locked out while the truck is running (i.e. you can't lock/unlock the door by pushing the buttons or using the sensor strip on the drivers handle). You would need to use the hidden key inside the fob to lock/unlock the door if you want to leave it running. This bypasses that and allows you remotely start the truck and still be able to lock/unlock the door with the fob.

I've been reading this stuff with interest but am unclear on something. The ability to unlock when running on the remote start; is that something special and non-standard for the device you're using? Or is it that your device is able to do it and the others cannot. I'm a little concerned about some sort of custom firmware since I keep stuff a long time.

Other devices cannot do it. Its a certain setting I engage when flashing. Also understand that the firmware is never going to have to be updated or changed. Once its flashed its good forever

Once you open the door the vehicle shuts off and a restart is needed. This is the case for every toyota and lexus with the smart keys

No way around it and never will be . Reason being is they have no key take over. Think of it this way when you hop in a remote started vehicle with a key what do you do? You put the key in the cylinder, turn it to on and the vehicle is now running as it would on a regular day (Once you hit the brake and the remote start turns off)

That can't be done with a keyless ignition

I guess it's Toyota's implementation of the key-less system. Other manufacturers have successfully integrated factory remote start without shutting down the engine. My wife's new Murano has factory remote start as a standard feature. The procedure is to hit the lock button, then press and hold the remote start button for 3 seconds. The car will start and run for 10 minutes. We can then unlock the car and enter with the engine running. If we try to shift into gear it'll shutdown, but if we press the brake then hit the start button the gauges will come to life and we can then drive off.

Bottom line... This is an extremely manageable $130 for remote start that you would normally pay $400-600 for. The issue about it shutting off when you open the door is nothing but an annoyance, at best. But you would still have to do the same thing with any other remote start. It is a security feature that Toyota has implemented.

I, for one, am quite impressed with the effort that nickj718 and KB Voodoo to make this available for us. Thanks guys![IMG]

I had factory remote start in a 2009 Jeep Wrangler with keyed ignition. No restart needed, but the steering column remained locked until I inserted the key and switched it to ON so the risk of theft was substantially minimized. Not a lot of security in a vehicle where you can just unzip the rear windows.

@nickj718 - did your shipment come? Weather seems to be messing a lot up. Ordered a package from Amazon and it's taking about 5 days to make it from Ohio. So much for that Prime 2-day shipping.
