Still curious why they just didn't make it where you had to push the start button again with the fob present. That's essentially how regular keyed remote starts are where you put the key in and turn it. Otherwise, it'd cut off when you hit the brake.

What happens if the vehicle is running and you hit the button now?

    .....Car Dies......

Guys I'm sorry but this isn't gonna change were beating a dead horse. You can warm it up and restart when you get in or freeze your balls off for the first 10 min of your drive.

If I understand it correctly, the bypass is bypassing the system that looks for that key and starting the vehicle. You would need a much more complicated system that would be more expensive that would be coded to switch off the bypass that would then allow the system to look for the key again.

You will be spending a lot more than $130 on that.

Yes and no. The issue is that the truck thinks the key is in the vehicle and that you physically pushed the brake and hit the button. So because of this it could be stolen. Think of it this way. You start the car and one minute later a dude gets in and drives away. He has 19 min of that 20 min run timer remaining to get as far away as possible.

Good point. As it stands that wouldn't work. Toyota should program it to where you have to hold it down to shut off similar to if you're moving. Don't ask how I found that out. Granted someone would complain that they had to hold the button down.

Truth is even if it was possible i wouldn't do it. Its a liability for myself and KB Voodoo. If you can sue McDonalds for hot coffee anything can be done

The way that it would have to be programmed to do it and keep it safe is that when someone gets in the truck and presses the brake the system would then have to "look" for the key again. So its not impossible, it could be done, it is just a product that to my knowledge does not exist.

    Remote Start = True
If Brake = True, Then disable bypass, check for key
If Key = False, shut down system,
If Key = True, drive as normal

It would have to find the key extremely fast to do that.

Other vehicles such as Nissan you just hit the button again and drive away. No toyota or lexus vehicle is capable of key take over

I did bypass the system to utilize the door locks while running so it could be worse

It could even have a 3 second delay upon brake press.

Or go out and start your truck, turn defrost on high, and go back in the house for 10 to 15 minutes. This is how us poor folks do it.

That was me (with my dealership's quoted price), but the problem is when I work inside all day while it's some stupid "my entire body hurts" temperature outside. I don't want to run through 5 security doors, outside to the parking lot, then run back inside, and just assume my UNLOCKED truck is going to be fine right next to the homeless guys bumming cigarettes off the trash can. You can do what you suggest at home, but not once you leave your own driveway.

    It's not just laziness.

Thanks, guess I didn't read all 456 other posts on this thread. I guess someone will make a lot of money when they figure out a way to fix this problem.

Seems like they'd send them from the factory with remote start. More money for them and more secure. As it stands, if you do it the old fashioned way of going out and starting it, someone can get in and drive til they run out of gas or turn it off. hmm...wonder if the insurance company will give me a discount for installing one. o_O
