Can anyone explain more of the Smart Start and how it works with this remote start system? How does the Smart Start module connect or communicate with the remote start so I could start the truck with my phone

Smart start it a unit that u plug in the unit from the kit.i dont think there is a special programming to it. Its a cellular service in it. And once u pay the anual fee to directed it activates and u can control it with the directed app from your phone

Sounds easy enough and I will probably add that on later 'cause sometimes I cannot park close enough to my office to start my truck with the oem remote.

Also one thing I did read was that you should unplug the blue connector from the dball before connecting the SmartStart to it. Apparently people have fried the dball by not doing so.

Why did you need to have one made? Blade key in the fob works fine.

Ok to those complaining about the price from 70 to 130 here is the differance

My $ 70.00 dollar kit includes a ground terminal self taping screw, online directions and the remote start. Looks like this

I just ordered my kit tonight from KB VooDoo. I don't recall seeing an option at checkout for auto headlights. I need the auto headlight wiring option. If KB VooDoo is out there following this thread still, can you confirm the auto headlight option for my order (Anthony Gentry)?

    Nick,
Another thank you from an excited TW Member. I think the $129 price +$7 shipping is a bargain especially given that Toyota doesn't offer a OEM kit yet and other aftermarket kits are hundreds more.

    Merry Christmas Guys!

And the cost of packaging, website fees, credit card fees, taxes, and ten other things I can't think of while I'm sitting on the can.

I'm not complaining about the price anymore, I'm just still waiting to get my $70 back.

And for those that want a cheaper option, I'm sure another member on here will learn how to flash these for you for a fee. So you can buy the DBALL2 ($40 Amazon prime), send it to someone for flash, and do the rest yourself. Nick just didn't have time; I'm sure someone else will. With Voodoo your going to pay for convenience. He has removed most of the "DIY" for you and left you with just connecting it.

*Edit: need the DBALL2 (linked) not necessarily the DSM300. (thanks gpb)

A DEI dealer account with directed to access the xpresskit site to even begin to flash a device. This takes a $2,000 purchase and then gives you access to the site for 4 months. If you spend more it give you more time. The program to flash is junk so you need a separate computer and you need a XKLOADER.

Also the wire colors are incorrect on their print outs which is why I have my own directions which are for customers only and wont be public. If they end up that way ill make sure they are taken down. I personally took two hours chasing wires and 4 installs here at home to make sure its correct and easy. Not to mention I know the sequence and what options to select to make the door locks work while running. So its not that easy
