This time of year is a big part of why I no longer live where TV weather folks use the words "Lake Effect" on a regular basis.

Going to be 18F here tonight. I'm going to freeze in the morning going to start my truck. :( Supposed to be 71 on Sunday. Yay NC weather. If you don't like it, wait 5 min and it'll change.

Switching topics slightly, is there a way to program this unit such that holding down the unlock button for 3 second, the windows would all open? I had a car that would do this once, and it was super.

I can't, however toyota can do this with their TechStream computer. Just ask a service writer on your next service. Sometimes they do it for free

Really? Does this unit need to be installed, or is this something they can do with what the Tacoma already comes with?

    Guys,
It's really cold outside! If you want a remote start, I'd get your order in. KB Vodoo has already confirmed the price will be going up. There really isn't any other product at this price point available for us DIY guys. We're paying a small price for support and convenience. Do you really think these guys are getting rich off of this product at $129? And if they are, God Bless them. I don't own a Techstream, I don't have a DEI account, and I am certainly no wire tracer.

I'll gladly pay $129 for this vs. $$$$ for a new ECU because I tried to figure out the wiring.

It's a free country. You don't have to buy this product. I think these guys are being generous to all of us members and it sounds like Nick went above and beyond. I don't know Nick, but the world could use a few more nice guys like Nick.

Once word gets out to the "General Public" about this unit, I bet it would fetch $189 or $199 all day long. I wish I had the money to buy the exclusitiviy from KB VooDoo and patent this to sell to dealers. Dealers would probably buy this all day long and sell it for $399 or $499 to their customers. You see how quick this morphed in a matter of weeks? I have a feeling this is just the beginning.

Not a patent lawyer by any means but I would assume there's nothing to patent.

    That sums it up perfectly.

At this point we welcome anyone to buy the parts to do it themselves. But just a fair warning: you won't save much money, and you might fry your ECU.

Our kit is a nicely packaged deal that eliminates all guess work. We have a video and great color instructions. You'll have a quality remote start that uses the factory fob for a great price and a very small amount of install time.

Let's be reasonable on the speculation here. The current pricing is fairly competitive with the other self-install remote-start available pre-flashed (or flashable) and with instructions. The difference being that they've not been promoted by forum members/vendors. Nick made a big splash with his original thread (particularly the price in the title) and his willingness to donate his time for free in doing the first batch of units before being overwhelmed with orders.

Nick and KB VooDoo are certainly providing a good value proposition for the unit they're offering. I'm a bit put off by the FUD I've seen a bit of though; it's always better to stick to the positives provided by a product or service.

As a professional technician, DIY is not at all scary to me. Yet I payed to get this remote start "packaged kit". Why? Because it is worth every dime they are asking and then some. Less than 10 wires and a couple seconds programming and viola, working remote start with door lock control while running. I have shopped around for a remote start set up for my girlfriends Outback, it will cost a lot more than this kit by a fairly large bit, that is with my doing all the "leg work" performed by @nickj718 & @KB Voodoo. Apples and oranges I know, but it should illustrate the value of this packaged system provided by a reputable vendor and supported by a guy who really owes no one anything. Kinda strikes me as a no-brainer.

No, it's an early immobilizer equipped one. I've decided to just replace that car....needs head gaskets too...
