KBVoodoo started printing labels and getting shipping boxes together in some down time they had. They will not ship until next week. Here's a link to the post that KBVoodoo has about the shipping. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...-tacomas-preorder.464235/page-3#post-13884233

    This is correct

Unfortunately with the holiday coming and weather we had some major delays. You should see movement early next week.

Just FYI, I have a 2017 DCSB Tacoma with Push Button Start and got Viper SmartStart installed today. They offered to program my original FOB from Toyota to work with the system too. There was no extra charge for this. So now I can:

Start my Tacoma using my original Toyota FOB (Push Lock button 3 times to start). This obviously has a very limited range but it does work.

    or

I can start my Tacoma with my phone using the Viper SmartStart app and the cell phone network. Both seem to work good so far. I have a Samsung Galaxy 7 Edge phone.

Do you have to restart your truck when you get in?

AFAIK, no vendor has cracked that nut for this truck, @bcrobbin - also - Viper is a DEI company, so if his truck has SmartStart it's almost certainly using the same gear (unless he got more stuff than what he mentioned)

The kill when the door is opened will never change. It's a Toyota thing which can't be bypassed by anyone as stated many times in this.

As said before start a already warm truck or start a cold one your choice.

Thanks, didn't know it was the same gear.

I know it's been stated many times about the gear you offer, but not knowing it's the same gear, I wanted to know if maybe it was figured out. And thanks for letting me know it's my choice how I get into my truck, I chose to take the environmentally better way, and what seems to be the better mechanical way as well. Most mornings I get in my cold truck in shorts, you know why, it's my choice.

Subaru does this too, apparently thieves were bypassing the old style (would turn off if brake pedal was pressed) and then they have ~20 mins to drive away in your car. You could get pretty far in 20 mins.

Yes, it is annoying that the car turns off but what do you do.

I disagree with others that say it will "NEVER" change. I think there is hope that with a new version someday they might engineer it to work like our 2016 Ford Escape that has remote start with an engine that stays running.

We're driving trucks, don't get preachy about the "environmentally better way", or you can walk to work in those shorts. You can read through this thread, and any other remote start thread, and your same question is asked at least every 2-3 pages, people get tired of answering the same questions over and over. In my opinion, if it's December and you're still getting in your truck in shorts, you don't need to be in this thread.

To answer the question you'll inevitably ask 10 posts from now: Yes, this will allow you to lock your doors with the truck running. No, most kits will not allow that without you talking to someone that does the device flashing. Yes, the price is going to go up (fairly so). Yes, you should buy this at the price it's listed if you're even remotely  interested; otherwise feel free to spend 3x-5x as much getting it the way you want. If you want certain things like run-time tweaked (Nick sends it at 20 minutes), you could perhaps PM Nick directly or go through the KB Voodoo page. Hope that helps you out later.

I know all the other answers, but not sure if this one has been asked or answered.

When I press the lock button on the remote 3 times the truck starts, but do the doors ever unlock during the process? If so do they automatically lock themselves or is it a manual process to lock the doors after the remote start begins?

The truck never un-locks it simply bypasses the security for a split second to start then re arms then running. This is a setting you put in upon programming and every one we do is set this way

Thanks - that is the way I would want it. On my '15 Tacoma, the doors would unlock momentary, the truck would start then the doors would lock themselves again so I wasn't sure the procedure on this one
