You gotta watch out for those opportunistic thieves! I've actually thought about that with a Viper system I had in the past. They get about 3-5 seconds as the parking lights flash.

Any word on putting a side mount Bike carrier on your crossbars? I got an RTT with nothing to sit on yet..can't decide, but your mid level height rack is in the slight lead over relentless bars..you got the rack I want and they got the price I like! (Although in bottle openers you crush the competition)

Have you seen our outboard bike mounts that attach to our bed racks? Very tasty.

Totes..and I dig the shit outta it (and in the lead). And I think it's worth every penny, but the rack and Bike mount with shipping puts me over $700. And my wallet holder (I won't use her real name) is quite displeased with my current purchases since they all have atleast 2 zeros..

You could rig something up to the door switch to make it think the door is still closed. You would lose the done light coming on but some may not care.

Even then it'd probably only stay running until the timer runs out. Plan to install mine tomorrow if it doesn't rain so I'll set the timer low and see if it quits while driving around the yard.

Well that's the point, it has a preset runtime so it's not just running forever. I'm not sure but I would think when you got in the truck and it was still running it would pick up your key and stay on.

Not with Toyota Tacomas with PTS. The function you describe is "takeover" and it seems Toyota doesn't want to do it. Sure it can be done with some other brands but until they produce Tacomas you're kinda stuck with what Toyota decides and what the aftermarket and cannot crack.

Not meaning to burst anyone's balloon but if you put in an aftermarket remote start your warranty for any fuel/electrical issues is done. When we get a vehicle in with an aftermarket starter and there is a electrical issue the first thing that Toyota support asks us now is there an aftermarket car starter installed. If yes we get no support. The customer has to pay to remove the starter and return everything back to stock so can be diagnosed. Not sure if this starter taps into the data wires but many do and can cause communication codes.

Toyota does make there own car starter now but it's not available for the Tacoma yet. The Toyota starter is actually an added module that communicates with the others vehicles modules and our techstream. Every year they keep adding new vehicles for the Toyota starters so expect one for the Tacoma in the near future.

See, that's the thing with a DIY install. The owner has the knowledge and ability to uninstall the device if necessary. Heck if I were having electrical issues the first thing I'd do is disconnect the DBALL2 to ensure the issues still exist without it installed.

While good to know the view from "inside" and good to give folks a head's up, maybe let's not be so doomy and gloomy about it.
