The auto lights will stay on after shut down if the wire isn't interrupted

Guess the key is don't get distracted and forget to get in it and go somewhere. Also even if you have auto-headlights, don't leave your lights in the full On position or they'll stay on after shut-off too. Turned it off with the fob and couldn't figure out why the headlights didn't turn off, looked at the stalk and was all :annoyed:.

Katzkin leather, heated seats, Popnloc, bed lights, remote start, bhlm....
I ordered this kit this past Wed hoping the install would be a lot easier that the other kits. I also like that it only requires splicing 2 wires. I doubt I'll be able to install it in the next week though. Ill likely install it next Friday. I can let you guys know how it goes if you want. I don't have auto lights so someone else will have to test it on a truck with auto headlights.

    Guys,
Quick update on the EBay remote starter. Here's what the seller just emailed me.
    New message from: flipzeedoodler (156[IMG])
I'm actually in the process or re writing the guide for this product as the install has changed just a tad but. It became easier, really. The 2 wires at the column are the SLP, and parking lights. the parking lights are no longer needed since they are enabled through the data stream now. If your truck has auto lights, there will be a wire at the headlight switch that will need to be interupted. Other than that, thats it. No issues thus far from Taco or Highlander owners! I will be redoing this Ebay listing and our install guides tonight with the updated changes.

Very interesting indeed. As best as I can tell there is no parking lights signal at the SLP connector (S45). Went through the connections from the FSM. There is power and ground available in the OBD connector I believe, so that's those taken care of.

I'll be very curious to see the actual instructions once @SweatyBiscuit or someone else gets theirs. Sort of moot for me other than curiosity.

Hey guys! I see my Ebay listing has gathered quite the interest here and some other places as well. I figured it was time to chime in and see if I can help shed some light on any questions you might have. I was able to update the listing last night as well as the install guide. I have arranged with one of our local dealers to "borrow' a 17 Taco later this week. I need to take some additional pictures and I need a couple part numbers off of various components that aren't remote start related. We have a 100% plug and play harness in production. It doesn't appear that it will be available until the beginning of April though. We've done a lot of shipping back and forth with the factory. A lot of testing has been done, as well as many revisions. Each time I make a revision, its sent back, modified, and returned to me for testing. Its a process, and takes time, but the end goal is to be able to offer the community here a complete harness that you can plug in without tapping or cutting a single wire. We're talking a 15 minute install! And the nest part.. its just as easy to remove!

Its not set yet. Who knows, the DBALL2 is about to fade out so it'll depend on the price of the DB3 and what the end cost ends up being on the harness. Honestly, It won't be any greater than our current price, and could even be lower.

I would happily pay $200 for a complete plug and play remote start. Although less is better.

I could probably find 5-10 other 3rd gen owners here as well that would.

And we are just a secluded town of 30,000 people. Can't even imagine how many would sell on a national level.

Had my remote start installed last friday I have Push To Start. All works well except one gripe.

I don't like using AUTO feature for my headlights, I usually run parking lights and
fogs all day, anyway, in my 06, my 10 w.OEM remote start it didn't matter where my headlight
switch was turned to on the stalk, either parking auto or full headlight, when I take the key out
and open the driver door, the lights would shut off. I reallllly like that and I had it in my 17 until..

After I had my remote start installed thenI lost that feature. Now the lights stay in the 'same place that the
switch is turned too and do not shut off with any door opening or exiting or locking w. remote.
I like that my LED DRLS turn on with remote start but want any help on how
to get the lights to shut off either when I open the door to lock up or when I tap lock on remote
like it was before remote start. Seeing my wiriing guy tomorrow but any insight from you guys
will cut the remedy time down. Please chime in.

If you manually shut it off while running on remote start or let the timer expire, the lights will stay on if you have it set to anything other than auto but nothing should have changed as far as lights cutting off while running normally. Believe the default is for the lights to remain on for 30 seconds (customizable through the head unit) after closing the door. Have noticed if I hit lock twice, the lights will go ahead and turn off instead of waiting.

That is only for the headlight function, when it is set to auto. If you have it on the parking light only setting (with fog lights if you have them on) then they shut off as soon as the car is shut off. There is no delay like the headlights.

Overlooked the parking light only part. I only ever use the auto or headlight on position so I'll check at lunch to see what the parking lights do since I have remote start installed.

I'll double check at lunch but am sure my lights all shut off when I lock the truck. I also turned off the delay in the settings as I don't need them to stay on, so am unsure if that might make a difference.
