That's a candidate for the WTF thread... talk about government overreach into people's lives. Good grief.

At least we don't have to worry about it, because our keys won't be in the truck.

Yes, that I think was the gist of the post -- with remote start you get a warm truck and no ticket!

    OK, from my brief experimentation:
Running lights only- led drls turn off when I push the button to shut off the engine. Fog lights turn off when I open the door.

Auto/headlights on- stay on til preset timer expires or you hit the lock button twice. Assume they turn off when you open the door if you have the timer set to 0.

Yep, I'm getting the same behavior as @PJnc284 -- lights behave as they did before the remote start install.

Below is the wiring diagram for the lighting stalk. I'd examine the wire from M6-22 (main body ECU, pin 22) to see if it is miswired; perhaps if it's getting grounded it may be fooling the truck into thinking you have the switch in the parking lights position.

    Level kit,
Just finished installing my AutoStart system from FullMotionHT, the install went perfect my only scare was cutting the auto headlight wire, I use Posi-Taps for the wire connections, Also installed the Smart Start module Clay even activated it for me and tested it out from his shop. the unit works perfect so far. Only 4 wires to mess with it would be just 2 if I didn't have the Auto Lights. Not trying to take anything away from KB Voodoo but for those that's on the fence with splicing all the wires this is the unit to get.
    A big thanks to Clay.

Auto lights is a feature/option on some that is an additional "Auto" stalk position. Turns on headlights automatically when dark enough. Thus the name.

yup, only applies if you have the Auto option on your headlight switch. Canada apparently doesn't have the premium and tech package but has an "upgrade" package that's similar. Don't see auto headlights listed though? Could always just ignore that wire but you'd need to have your headlight switch in the off position.

I just finished the install on the same system today. Full disclosure: I originally recieved the kit last Sat and installed it that night but had a bad wiring harness. I called Clay (ph# included with the starter) and he answered right away. He sent out a new harness the next day. I received it today and it works perfect. This is a rediculously easy install! My truck does not have the tech package so no auto headlights for me so the parking light switch wire tap is optional. Really only one wire that has to be tapped and the rest of the harness plugs into the OBD2. The OBD2 is sill fully functional and wires/harness and device are easy to hide. I've only tested it a few times but so far it seems to work just like the others. It's a dball2 unit. Worth the cost to me as it is super easy to install/uninstall

Congrats on your install. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

I assume you mean that the harness keeps the OBD2 fully functional? Just clarifying, as it could seem like you were saying something about the other options not leaving the OBD2 fully functional. :D
Good to see he's including the proper size T-tap for these wires. Those black ones for 26-22ga are what I'd use if I were to use T-taps.

This solution seems extremely simple! Can you share a few photos of what the OBD harness looks like under the dash when fully connected? I am curious if it is visible or in the way at all -

    TY!

I don't have pics but I may be able to share some at a later time. It's easy to tuck the extra wires up and behind. The new obd2 harness clips into the stock location so everything looks stock under the dash unless you know what to look for. You only have to remove the lower steering wheel column cover to install (that's where the wire taps are). I think I could do an install in 15 min.

Just had auto start put in at dealership. Factory. Now when I get out of vehicle and close the doors, after a few seconds, the doors lock automatically and the alarm activates. I don't like this feature as you could accidentally lock your keys in the car. Is there a way to change this feature so I have to manually activate alarm and locks?

Some kits for PTS have a harness for the ignition wires, and then only a select few other wires need to be tapped in to. You're probably looking at a harness kit.

What alarm? Is this a security alarm system that came with the remote start module they installed? Take it back to the dealership. They may have wired something wrong, or misconfigured a setting in the RS module. A good dealership will fix this issue. This is the only reason its worth getting the dealer to install the kit.

Yes, had them install the factory alarm with remote start. Now when I exit vehicle and close door, the alarm and locks engage automatically after a set time. They charged me for an alarm, but now I'm reading that the car came with a factory alarm. I thought I was smarter than this. Did I get bent over?
