Its doing that because they are LED and the camera does that. They dont do that to the naked eye.

Ill wire in the Smart Start for free you just have to buy it. I believe the cost is 75-85

Yep, has to do with the camera's "rolling shutter". It's a very common thing.

Very interested. Looking forward to seeing the install info. I'm no stranger to digging into vehicle wiring (and also prefer soldering), just need to know what I'm signing up for with this... :)

Some of you are messaging me about whats prewiring

The bypass had some 56 wire on it. You only need 9 (11 if auto-light equipped )

    So before

Why is this so hard to come by? The idea of remote starting and then having to start the car again when you jump in is just so blah to me. My brother's chevy can do this, but Honda's and Toyota's OEM remote start systems cannot... :/

Looked like Knight Rider or a Mustang's rear blinker. I'll shoot you a PM after install instructions are posted. I have a feeling you're going to be very busy. $$$$$$

Yeah, growing up in the Rust Belt will teach that lesson.

In years past on my motorcycles when I was adding electrical accessories and such I'd often pull a pin out of the closest modular connector for the wire I was tapping, then solder to the crimp with shrinkwrap as strain relief. On wires going through a barrel connector I'd just build a Y pigtail to tap in. Never had a failure by doing it the right way. :D

No you have to restart the vehicle.

Reason being is if the door didn't kill it, anyone could bust your window and drive off in your vehicle with the timer on the remote start. I dont know about you but i can drive far in 15 min

I get the reason, but I believe the door kill should be something you can disengage. It's like the seat belt chime, it's there for a reason but I can turn it off. I'm fortunate that I have my own driveway and a private parking spot at work so I'd never have to worry about someone breaking into my vehicle.

Wouldn't be any different than if you started the truck and ran into the store or back in the house. It'll beep at you when you leave but anyone could get in and drive it until they ran out of gas or turned the truck off. Guess Toyota figured the fob was present to start the truck in that case so they don't care where the fob is after the fact. Note to self: be sure not to accidentally leave the fob behind or you might be up the creek later.

Logical solution would have been to not allow the truck to be shifted from Park unless the driver pushes the Start button with the fob present. In the event of a dead fob, you could just tap it to the start button similar to how you'd start it.

Yes truck turns off when you open the door. You have to restart it once in side. This is a theft issue

If it shuts off when you open the door, wouldn't this cause or be extra work on th battery and starter?

I suppose, however this is the only way a remote start operated in all toyota and lexus vehicles

isn't remote starting extra work on the engine, the ac system, the heating system, the electrical system?

This has always been such a weird argument to me.
