I may have missed it but what I don't understand is why nobody has exploited the fact that the truck can detect whether the key fob is present. From my understanding that is how virtually every other remote start system on a push to start vehicle functions. BMW communicates with your cellphone.

Every manufacturer has their reasons, why HKEY on the same Tacoma has key takeover and push to start doesn’t Is beyond me. They could’ve made it where you have to push the ignition with the smart key in your pocket to over ride and drive off but they didn’t. I just can’t think of why!

hope the aftermarket companies are listening.
Need remote start plug and play kit that will keep the vehicle ON when you open the door.

Will never happen, it’s not just Toyota it’s all manufacturers doing this. It’s a safety feature that’s harder to override than the brake.

Any pro/con experience with the MPC version? Priced at $330 with mobile connectivity, lowest I’ve seen (and that is before a 10% discount and free shipping “sign up” offer).

This is a TOYOTA thing, not a remote starter thing. If you have HKEY auto or manual, then you can do key take over where it won’t shut the engine down after opening the door. Remote starter manufacturers will NOT over ride this because they (at least what I sell) are NHTSA approved and validated for US domestic sales. Over riding this puts as at FULL Liability in the case of a law suit. You would have to figure it out on your own and do it yourself. It CAN be done, I won’t be the one telling though.

Will a kit from a 2017 work on a 2019? A guy close to me has a kit he never installed and I’m thinking of buying it.

Lawyers are the reason. Everyone is sue happy. Why they have timers to. Start it in garage, fall asleep. Someone dies of carbon monoxide. They can’t add enough zeros to lawsuit

Does anyone know what C29 #9 pin is for?
I have the green wire on a CH 4x4 switch tapped into it along with 85 on a relay. It's to turn on my bed speakers but I want to make sure they connected it correctly.
