My last remote start would shutoff as soon as you pressed the brake, unless the key was in and on acc.

No, I get that. I am saying the argument that having to restart it is unnecessary wear is such a weird argument when the very ACT of remote starting is unnecessary and more a convenience. So its weird to argue that point.

    Strictly speaking, yes.

In the grand scheme of things though, how often will you use remote start vs all the other times you start up the truck without thinking about the potential added wear when you stop at the convenience store, stop at the grocery store, stop at Home Depot, stop at your kids daycare, etc.

    100% AGREE

My feeling is whats worse the extra start or the extremely cold start on my truck then getting in it and driving. The wear on your motor during warm up is not good either. And no one on here can tell me they sit in the car and let it idle for a while then once warm drive it. If they did they wouldn't be in their thread to begin with

I would say yes, if it's running for no reason. But not as hard on the battery and starter by needing to start the vehicle a second time when you use the remote starter.

The extreme cold start will happen rather it's done with the remote starter or you get in and start it yourself. And how long does a vehicle need to run before its ok to drive? I used to think it was not ok until warm air was coming out of the vents. I heard/read that once the oil has had a chance to coat/move through the engine it was ok to drive.

And yes I am one that currently starts my truck and waits about 30 seconds to a minute, cold or hot out, then drive off. I dont drive it hard until I feel it's warmer. And I would think someone who is sick of sitting in the cold would be in this thread to find a low cost option to this issue.

I have never had a remote starter, but if I had one, how many extra starts would I have?

Doesn't put any stress on the ac, heat or electrical. The car is running as normal has nothing to do with the remote start. Thats like saying sitting in traffic is hard on your electrical system

Also my point with the cold was its better to start the car and let it warm up. Most (I know you do) dont let it idle for a min then baby it till its warm.

But it's running extra, that has some effect. Yes sitting in traffic would have the same effect, it's running extra. When stuff runs there is wear so to speak.
