Sorry if this is common knowledge, but will a 3rd gen rims fit 2nd gen trucks?

I searched the site and couldn't fit a definitive yes or no.

I have a 2009 and I am going to look at a set from a 2017 tomorrow. Mine a flaking badly and I believe the seal is leaking due to the corrosion. With winter coming I don't want to fill up my tires every morning again.

    great

now another question, will the tmps on 2017 be comparable with my 2009 if I have the dealership try to reprogram?

I have 2017 (3rd gen) rims on my 2015 and the TPMS worked from old rims

thanks but I would be putting the 2017 wheels and tires on the 2009. Wasn't sure if the newer tmps would work with the 20019.

I have 2019 rims on my '15. As stated TPMS sensors will fit...IF you're going from alloy rims to alloy rims...I believe you will have problems if you go from steel to alloy.

I want to say they changed the freq the TPMS communicate on. I don't think they do.

I put 2019 rims on 2007 and had to have the TPMS swapped to work.

Same frequency, different communication protocol, I can say with certainty the other way around doesn't work.

As far as the rest, besides backspacing I don't think they've changed much of anything, I think almost any 6-lug Toyota rim (that's big enough to clear the calipers) will work on almost any other Toyota, as long as the backspace works.

Just to clarify...In my case, my original '15 TPMS sensors had to put into the '19 rims.

Swapped my 2015 tpms into the new 3rd gen OR wheels and everything’s good.

Ok that’s what I was wondering. I guess I would have to switch the tmps from 09.
