Does anyone have any input on this? I've picked up all 4 shocks off a 2016 Sr5. Just wondering about the front really since I'll be swapping coilovers. Thanks!

I'm sure its pretty safe to say aftermarket shocks are better than OEM shocks so why did you gran those 2016s?

Covered in stickers and chrome stick-ons for extra horse torques and foot powers. Icon sticker gets me tons of travel, dozens of milimeters.
Spring rate on the coilovers is a bit higher so they'll be a bit stiffer.

They were 50 bucks for all and basically brand new. Figured mine lasted for 11 years so these should be adequate. I have the rake look too so o figured it might level me out.

Being a new member I'll post up some pics tomorrow. I've been busy the the exterior. It is radiant red and the paint was toast. Clear coat bubbling off. Sprayed it back original color. Lots of time there. I also put on bushwacker flares and some stock 2016 trd off-road rims and tires.

Wish I had a better photo but this is my 2006 base with 2016 TRDOR front shocks and coils and rear shocks installed (plus only ~2,000 mi on shocks and recent leaf spring recall = new suspension) Truck seems stiffer on road but doesn't rattle and get sloppy when I slam it down a pothole filled dirt road now.

Looks an inch or two higher in front, though the rake may be emphasized in the second picture as it was taken after the leaf springs but before the shocks and coils.
    IMG_1890.jpg

Take home message: small and significant upgrade, fully backwards compatible to 2nd gen, front lift is about 1 inch

Scored a full set of shocks and coils (fully assembled with top hats) off a 2016 Offroad. Put them on my 2011 and gained about 7/8 inch lift in front and a firmer ride. Handles way better now than it did with the oem tokicos.

Actually not at all, more incensed about the recent uptick in the consumption of Haterade among TW members.

I just installed some 2016 TRD OR coilovers with 3,000mi. on them. I got 1 1/8" on drivers side and 7/8" on pass. side. They leveled out the "Taco Lean" exactly. The coil with the red and green dots goes on drivers side. I'm at 21 1/8" both sides now and 21 1/2" at rear with my stock spring setup. Very pleased!!!

Awesome pics! Are you running 265s? I just bought some 1/2" toytec spacers from another member and I am going to couple with this and then do a full leaf pack out back...should make for an awesome relatively mild height and budget lift.

I thought about some 1/4" spacers but decided to keep some rake. If you can find low mileage 2016's you should be able to just add a 1/2" to my #'s. I found that my stock 2013 coilovers had settled over the 3 yrs. I've had the truck.

Edit: You should do a little more research on your heights. The 1/2" spacer will probably get you closer to 1" added to my numbers.

Got just a bit over 1". I'm expecting it to settle to right around 1". This is also with 265/75/16s.

Yes the 1/2 spacer will do anywhere between 3/4 - 1" of lift. So I figure it wil put me somewhere around 2" total or so which is why I'm looking to pair with a new leaf pack....maybe wheelers HD pack or the iron man 2" lift pack. I like the factory rake which is why I want to keep front/rear lifted at same ratio.

I'm planning to put on Sumo springs for expected 5/8" of lift and help in towing and squat.

Btw. I think I got the damn needle bearing vibe even with this small of a lift. :annoyed:

Your after pic looks good! I was really getting tired of seeing the 75's stuffed, the 1" made all the diff!! On the vibe, have your front tire balances checked. I had it as well and ended up having to get them Road Force balanced. It solved my problem. Still have to get mine aligned. Can you post your alignment numbers? Thinking I'll ask for 0/2.7/0 ??? Not sure how ASE #'s convert to :canada:

    I have '17 shocks/coils on all 4 corners and a 3+1 leaf off a '17 OR on my '13.

Total cost for a brand new suspension (parts had ~50 mi on them as take offs) was $100 including my fuel to pick them up.

Why spend $1000's on non OEM when take offs are so readily available....and SO economical?
