Before everyone flames me, I love my truck. No, I'm not parting it out. No, it's not Friday funnies. Yes, I did search and found a lot on this in the 2nd gen forum and before.

2023 SR5 CC A/T w/12K miles. Since new in March of last year, my truck has always had a bit of an annoying "something" when approaching a stop. "Vibration" is the closest accurate description. It's not serious, just noticeable

I know it's the tranny because I can shift to "N" and come to a stop and the brakes are SMOOTH. I've read quite a bit about "shudder" and the like too. I'm thinking of draining/filling the tranny to see a couple of things. For one, ensuring the fluid level is correct. Secondly, maybe just doing that will mitigate things a bit. This isn't the normal rant people have about the 6sp AT..... I was VERY familiar with the hunting behavior from past ownership and that part doesn't bother me. In fact, I think that's a major reason I'm far exceeding expected gas mileage in my truck.

And....maybe something unrelated....but sometimes I hear a chirp coming from the shifter when going from P to R. No, I didn't record it. I'm SUPER easy on my truck and drive like an old man (largely because I am). It's not tires squealing. It's not because I change gears while the truck is moving/has momentum in one direction or the other. That's a good way to screw things up, introduce drive train slop, etc...

Anyone have this or have any luck with dealing with it?

    Cheers.

Toyota has a tsb for vibration during deceleration on the sr5s not sure if the 23 qualifies . They end up replacing the rear leaf springs and putting a dampener in the steering wheel . Had it done to mine a few years ago and it helped a lot . Sorry I don’t have the actual TSB number , but the dealer will have it

I have a 2023 and have had the TSB, replaced the springs and put a shim in the steering wheel. It did not correct my problem. Mine turned out to be warped drum brakes. I still have a slight hopping feeling when coming to a stop when it is down shifting. I guess that's normal.

Thanks for the replies! I was wondering if Toyota just used "crap" brakes like most manufacturers seem to do. It's very minor "hopping", but enough to be really annoying to me. I felt it coming home from the dealer when the truck had two miles on it, but figured I'd let it settle in. Now at 12K miles, it's not worse by any means....but still annoying. I think I'm just going to invest in some high quality drums and discs.
