3rd gen snubbed in JD Power quality study

They are better cars than they used to be, but Tacoma still is the resale value King. As far as the new Chevy/ GM trucks, hardcore longevity has yet to be proven. Initial quality doesn't cut it.

 

Is it just me or the retro interior looks like it was ripped out of a Brookstone air purifier or something???

rated on initial quality.... who cares. Everyone loves a new car. It's how well it does long term that matters. Kia can have that crap trophy. I'll keep my Tacoma and resale value.

 

I'm more concerned about long term quality. Rather then initial quality.
Let's see how those Kias are in 10 years.

 

The fact is we should be thanksful there's Kias and Hyundais in our market. They come with 10 years warranty and undercut everyone else on price. Any other automakers who sells in their market segment to stay afloat they're forced bring up their quality and bring down the price to compete, and guess who's benefiting? Yeah.

 

Kia/Hyundai have probably made more quality strides than any other automaker in the last 15 years.

 

I really like Kia, no problems there, just this JD Douchebag guy and his scam artist buddies filling the public with lies.

 

I agree with you other than the consumer reports comment, they don't take advertising as far as we can prove and they get millions of subscribers to respond to their emails about the products they buy every year including myself.
But you know about opinions, right?

 

They also had the most to gain in the last 15 years.

 

Former Nissan engineer here. Any word on how the TX plant is handling this Tacoma IQS result? I'm hoping they're hosting 1,000 Japanese professionals crawling the plant and the supplier facilities to correct the ship. To anyone in the know, it would be encouraging to hear some generalities as to the internal response and reaction.

I agree with the general sentiment that initial quality isn't as important or even related to the decision of a Tacoma purchase, but the fact remains that initial quality is the highest predictor of next-purchase brand loyalty. Newness spoiled by an irritating defect has got to be a deflating experience for a new auto buyer.
