One of my good friends is selling me a like new (literally bought a few weeks ago) softopper that is on his 3rd gen. He said he has about $1000 in it (and I believe him) with all of the accessories and is selling it to me for $500. I've been reading that the main issue is the rear panel. I'm ok with either buying a new panel based on the price he is gifting me softopper for.

Is this going to be my only issue? I told him that if it didn't fit my truck he could sell it pretty easily. He is in Memphis now.

    Hive mind, lemme know.

ETA, from what I've read the cross bar can be replaced with a straight rod, and the rear panel will overlap on the back more. I'm thinking I can just slide the topper forward and see if that helps (or even if its an issue).

I have searched and the only info I can find is a 2nd gen on a 3rd gen, not the other way around.

Here’s a shot of a 3rd gen softopper I had. No issues with the straight bar on the rear panel.

3rd gen Softopper on my truck w/ no issues. I was specifically looking for a third gen topper because it sits a little lower than the roof of the second gens so it’s a bit more compact/streamlined.
