12 in sub for actual bass
I got their 12 sub deal with the smart start amp so everything is plug and play and dont need a remote start wire. Bass is good but again it's a 12 in. Only problem is sometimes the bass will stop for some reason, if I blip the volume knob to max it will kick in again. Dont know what the prob could be. Everything is tight and well plugged. Fits perfectly in the little cubby after you remove the plastic tray. Got seat covers and everything is still prefect

Did you have any trouble getting those rear door speakers to fit? After doing some research multiple sites says those speakers won't fit without modifications.

And that's for the Rear Speakers too? The picture you attached looks like the 6x9's in the front

All I did was put 2 10” Rockford fosgate subwoofers with a 500 watt amp and a lc2i. Very loud and sounds clean.

Does factory head unit power these speakers well enough? Can you ad an external amp without too much fuss? Haven’t done a speaker upgrade without a headunit upgrade. All this was over 15 years ago. Trying to blow my factory speakers to justify the upgrade.

TBH the HU is just fine power wise for normal or average everyday use in such a small combined space.

If on the other hand one likes to party and rock hard by the beach, then I could see the need for a hefty amp, a sub, and maybe a larger battery. But to get the optimum benefit, one might as well replace the factory speaker wires to more hefty ones??
In that scenario, I would just opt for a portable Bluetooth boom box. It be a lot cheaper and better IMO actually.

I ended up replacing my factory tweeters with the subaru kickers(direct swap/no modifying). Also went with kickers 6x9s in the front and 6.75 in the rear with crutchfield brackets and adapters.. Replaced my Entune Premium head unit with a Pioneer avic-8400nex. Next on my list is adding a ********* box for the extra bass.

Haven’t done it with my 3rd gen but my 2nd gen had Focals and JL sub. Loved the sound quality of the focals. The gen2 JBL system was probably one of the worst sounding stock systems there was. Pretty sad considering JBL usually has great stuff.

I see they have this Front and rear kit https://*********.com/shop/toyota-t...r-adapter-front-rear-door-installation-kit-2/
Looks like it'll have all that I need to do the 6.5 and 6x9 install, but i'm not sure which diameter cut-out for the rear mount. It has options for 5.1" - 5.8".
Do you know which option you chose?
(I've already done the Kicker/Subaru tweeter swap and love it)

TBH I don't remember, but I did emailed them for the front tweeter diameter. I gave them the brand, model and they emailed me the correct option. You can also call them.

Thanks, I'll give them an email.
Did you use all the components of the Front/Rear kit?

Yes, you'll need the provided longer screws, splice the new speaker terminals. I may have had more screws than I needed, don't recall. But regardless, you'll have all you need with the package.
And I sound proofed the inside door panels with sound deadening from homecheapo. The ********* mounts are hefty and I believe that makes a difference in the install. It's like prepping before painting if you ask me lol!

I'm not very savvy with installs, i typically fumble my way through it.
You said the new speaker terminals need to be spliced on the reference speakers? On all 4 door speakers?
Isn't that what the wire harnesses are for?
I think I read that you have to do that on the fronts because the dash tweeters are connected, but that's why I went the Subaru/Kicker Tweeter swap because it was plug and play...Is that the splicing you referenced?

The replacement speakers have universal spade terminals that won't fit into the stock connector. That is why you need the adopter connector that connects between the factory and the speaker.

There are plenty videos on the ********* web site and on youtube that can help you walk thru it. You made the right choice with the Subaru in your case, as its just a plug & play. There is a company that makes all speakers in the Taco a plug & play deal, but be prepared to pay a hefty sum. Unfortunately that name or brand eluded me.

I should also add that you need to watch the ********* video for the front as they recommend the proper routing of the wires. You must be careful if you rout from the inside so that the glass does not hit it.

Sorry I don't know which video it is on. I routed mine (wiring) from underneath and under glass buttoned it (along to factory wiring) with tape and tie strapping on the inside for a neat factory look, not that anyone will ever see it lol!!
