I'm going higher spring rate coils. I have bilstein 6112 front coilovers. They come with 600lb spring. Bilstein sells a 650lb spring, I'll be installing those.

My nose did drop about 1/2 to 1 inch after bumper/winch installed.

For anyone that has installed this bumper. Do you think that a dremel with a cutting wheel is enough for cutting the bumper or would something with a little more power do a better job? Thanks!!

You probably want to use a high powered cut off tool

You can use tin snips to cut the plastic if it’s warm. Very easy and no hot plastic to bounce off your skin :).

Thanks for the awesome write up. My Brother and I installed my winch and bumper in about 3 hours. Your instructions were spot on. I had my bumper Painted blue to match my stickers and Tailgate20200215_165818.jpg 20190508_172803.jpg

If you’re stock you’ll need nothing added to suspension unless you just want to. The bumper doesn’t drop your front end enough to notice.

Now if you’re the guy that pulls a tape measure before and after then yes there will be a minor loss. Visually you’ll never notice nor will there be a loss in ride quality. I lifted my truck and added a larger wheel and tire but lift wasn’t to gain what was lost from bumper install.

First pic all stock. Second pic only bumper added. Third pic new suspension and new wheels n tires.

Just had mine installed by a local (well known) shop in San Diego. I was not able to get my truck until the evening so I didn’t notice this. They totally fucked up the trimming of the stock bumper cover. I am hoping they will make it right after showing them that how they installed it was not correct. If they choose not to correct the mistakes, I Hope everyone here will support me in a good old fashion internet boycott.

I went with Bilstein 6112 front set at the 1.5” for level. I through on a pair of 5160 rears and I love the setup so far.

I hope so too. I’ve been in contact with SSO and have left a message with the shop that did the install. I hope SSO can put the pressure on them.

That's pretty bad... especially since they didn't fess up to it and you had to discover it yourself. Not that it's a subtle fuck up. Good luck!

Another reason I do everything myself except for things that are way out of my league.

jba UCAs are ordered now and going to order 4.88 gears for truck Monday most likely when I can call and talk to someone to get more info. Going to be installing those myself also since I can order the clamshell from ecgs. Doubtful I’d tackle that project if I had to swap all gears out since there’s some advanced stuff needed to be done plus specific tools I don’t have.

Either way what’s done is done for you now. Surely if it’s a reputable company they’ll make it right. If not I’d pursue them somehow to make them order me a new bumper shroud and swap it all out myself next go round. Plus a discount on their end for the hassle. Never know though they may make it right on their end despite the mixup and be very apologetic.

If they don’t fix it I’ll honestly just dispute it with my credit card company and they won’t get paid for any of the work. I have a feeling they’ll make this right but if they don’t, I’ll be more than disappointed.

Looking back I should’ve just done it myself. But, with the suspension going in I really don’t have the space for that work at my house. It really just pisses me off knowing I trusted a company to do something and they didn’t even follow the instructions that are surely included with the bumper and online. And that there was no management to check that the work and walk through the vehicle with me. The tech just handed me my key and sent me on my way.

Which is why I’ve reached out to them sharing my concerns. Ball is in their court now. I haven’t been anything but kind and appreciative to them as of now. When I know more I’ll update the thread. Hopefully tomorrow.
