Did you modify the light bar brackets to get your setup to work?

 

Does anyone know if someone has tried to fit or successfully fit a 12k winch in this bumper?

 

Yes, I have an a couple others on this thread.
In my case I bought the HF Apex 12K. I left the control box on top and did a good amount of trimming and bending, hammering to get it in. The bracket after all of that has a pice of cardboard currently between it and the control box.

 

You all seem to be doing an excellent job cutting your stock bumpers, but it looks like the rounded contour of the bumper and the hard angles of the SSO don't mesh very well. Does the fitment look better in person?

 

I wonder if someone could 3D print a cap to match the curve which could be sandwiched in.

 

Finally got mine done today. Lousy trim job. Still need to connect the bumper support brackets. Mind the fins!

 

super excited. Install Tuesday at buddies shop. Have a badlands winch going in along with control box relocation bracket.

 

i relocated everything in the 'magic black box'. i was going to fab my own but there so little stuff in there, it's ridiculous to even spend the effort blocking off the radiator with that aluminum casting monstrosity.

i did mine as part of my SDHQ hidden winch.

but i bought my winch last year and only got around to installing it a month ago. my warranty was void before i even had it out of the box.

If you have a winch and plan on using it, get the access holes. I can tell you from experience, popping the hood to winch sucks. Your truck typically won't be in a convenient position, to pop the hood and reach down, when you're stuck.

Hello all, really liking this setup. Regarding the light bar wiring, are there any provisions to secure the wiring lead to the back of the bumper? I was thinking of ordering raw to weld some zip tie tabs back there but I would prefer the convenience of ordering a powder coated piece.

 

You make a good point. There is nothing included on the bumper. I’m planning to run the lightbar wiring along the positive winch lead up top and back. Zip ties, if nothing else.

 

I know this thread is a bit older and hasn't been commented on in awhile, but I just wanted to thank @Hodakaguy for this write up.
After the change of management at SSO I didn't know exactly what to expect, but the new owners were transparent throughout the entire process, and all of my parts including light bar, wiring and Slimline bumper showed up exactly as promised.
It looks like the SSO installation vid has a few slight changes for adding a winch with the control(s) on top like Warn and Badlands that make it so you don't have to remove the entire center brace, only cut the vertical portion out.
This install/how to process has a lot of stuff the simplified how to on SSOs site missed.

How much did the front end drop after installing the bumper, winch and light up front with these style bumpers ?

 

Ive got AllDogs HD coils up front anticipating adding a winch and steel bumper, and without the winch its quite stiff, so personally I don't expect much if any drop in front, but might be a different story with OEM coils up front.
