3rd Gen SSO Slimline Hybrid Bumper/Winch install guide - How To Article with Tips.

AWESOME, I am waiting for mu June 3rd same bumper and winch to arrive any day now. Was in Powder Coat Monday. Biggest question, HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU? Can I do it in 1 day?

 

So I split part of it up to make it a bit easier, but ti can be done in one day. I had a couple buddies helping out which made it a bit easier. I unpacked the bumper the night before and got the fairlead and winch installed and ready to go. Then the next morning while they were on their way I went ahead and started pulling the stuff that didn't require cutting, as I wanted extra eyes/confirmation on the cut line. all in all I had probably an hour in unpacking and setting up the winch on the bumper and maybe 4 hours in bumper install and winch cable spooling.

 

sub'd for my install, which will be as soon as I'm not broke after already went broke bought the SSO bumper, the baja S8 Leds, the Smittbilt winch and now, next on the list, OME suspension.

 

I’ve been waiting patiently since July for my SSO Hybrid, just got shipping notification, expecting delivery this Friday! Have a Smittybilt X20 10k waiting and had the OME BP-51 2” lift kit w/HD Dakar 660lb leafs installed along with a set of 285/70/17 KO2’s in Sept.

I am beyond excited to complete this setup! Going to have my coil height adjusted from 5mm to 12mm and see how she goes!

I ordered mine end of July. Talked to them yesterday and it was in powder coat. About 2 weeks out

 

Looks like my delivery is bumped to Monday for weather. Yeah, I got powder coat notice 10/24, shipping notice on 11/11.

 

Bumper arrived early, got her all set to install, start prep on the truck tomorrow.

 

Got that puppy on today! Thanks to the OP, this thread saved me a lot of time

I used the Flipster V2 for my license plate holder from Cascadia 4x4. spendy, but quality all aluminum construction.

 

That does look really good! Nice job. Although... you live in OR and didn't go for a Warn winch? I have to deduct a couple points for that.

Can't wait until mine arrives in the mail. Hopefully in the next few weeks..

Warn was more expensive as I remember and Smittybilt supplied the brackets to reposition the control module to the side.

Went with the easier install for me. I did wear my Danners though, if that counts, lol

 

Got mine installed cause I followed this to the tee! Installing my stage 2 high clearance tomorrow, super pumped. Was a really easy install. Just waiting on the winch and lightbar in the mail now.

 

This thread encouraged me to buy this bumper. Thanks OP, awesome write up. Is there a write up for the wiring portion? This is the only gray area for me now installation wise.
Should I install a small fuse box to make adding more, easier?
Anyone done the stage 2?

 

Took about 6 hours altogether, boys. She’s done. Now I need to do a lift kit to get her droopy nose back up.

Thinking of adding a kill switch at the battery for the winch. No need to have this always on.

This write up is gold. I would have ripping out the whole bumper if it wasn’t for this. The most nerve wracking part is measuring out and cutting the stock bumper. 23•F in the garage, felt like a meat locker so I just wanted to get over with. Grabbed my grinder and away I went. I think it turns out OK.

I put the valance back on until I can afford some skid plates.

 

Looks awesome. Definitely the one I'm getting.
