Trying to confirm whether I can swap a 3rd gen to 2nd gen (13' with audio/Bluetooth controls). Wheels seem identical, along with the controls. Just a different wrap. Anyone done this yet?

What do you mean a different wrap? The steering wheel itself looks exactly the same it’s just the controls are graphite instead of the 2013 silver. Or is that what you are referring to?

You can just swap the controls from the 3rd gen to 2nd gen. The clock spring is still the same from 12-17

Yes, essentially the same wheel. Plan to swap over the controls from the 13'. Test drove a 3rd gen and seemed to have a different material. Mine is starting to wear and become almost sticky and stiching is seperating already. Thought it might be a simple swap, plenty of used 16/17 available

You'd probably be better off buying a real leather wrap from redlinegoods or something. I doubt the faux 16+ wheel is going to hold up to your use if your 2013 is coming apart.

Stay away from hand lotion lol, wrecks steering wheels.

Looked at wraps and particularly redlinegoods. Just too afraid of a poor fitment or lack of install skills.

Hahaha can honestly say that isn't the cause. Not sure what the deal is. Was like that when I bought the truck with 11k miles. Now only has 25k miles and stays parked inside weeks at a time. So something the original owner did. Thinking maybe a sun issue since it sat outside parked before :notsure:

Was it a direct swap? Did the controls connect right up?

So I looked up Redlinegoods steering wheel cover. It’s THE EXACT SAME ONE they sell on alibaba site for 30 bucks. Literally the same shit. Can’t fathom people buying it for 130!!
