There are a lot of threads asking about tire size with wheel size for the various models...
I have personally been looking to find the max tire size I can fit on my TRD pro with the TRD pro wheels, but I haven't found anything definitive.

It would be great if someone knowledge could provide a list of the largest tire that would work with the various trims/wheels that come stock.

I do not have this knowledge, but I would be happy to help make an organized spreadsheet or thread if someone with the knowledge can provide me the data.

We can even add MPG reductions, etc.

If none of this can be done....

    I am looking to know:
What is the largest tire I can throw on my TRD pro without rubbing?
What if I move to the 17" 4Runner Pro wheels?

    Well, that is not helpful.
If the data already exists, please help point me in the right direction.
We all lack knowledge at some point.
You're comment doesn't do any good.

You can safely fit the 265/75/16 or 265/70/17

All other sizes have reports of rubbing on stock height from various posters. Some say no rubbing on other sizes but this is by far the safest definitive choice because all other sizes have a decent amount of risk you'll rub from all feedback I've seen here in the past 18 to 24 months

    Thank you.
I saw this info for the TRD Offroad, but with the pro having a slight lift over the OR, does that change anything?

The brochure/toyota claims lift but real world measurements from ground to bottom of fender flare as well as from center of wheel hub to bottom of fender flare have shown the same dimensions as the Sport and OR trims. There are a few folks here that refuse to believe it or will argue it but you could do the measurements yourself and see what they come out to for your own awareness. Bottom line if there is a difference it is so minute it isn't really going to make much difference between the trims as for wheel and tire fitment. You'll see some wild ass claims here that some guys are running 285 size tires on stock OR as well as PRO and experience no rubbing but the preponderance of folks are having to lift and or trim the cab mounts to offroad with these tire sizes in order to avoid rubbing. The safe sizes seem to be like I said above. Proceed with caution.

Some tire places will allow you to exchange for full refund within 30 days so if you try a size and do not like it maybe you can trade it back? Something else to check into

Even if it had lift it would not matter. Lift is not the limiting factor on bigger wheels. You can fit 37s on stock suspension if you trim enough.

That being said, the reason you got the face slap emoji is because nothing changes with the pro. The same info that has been posted a million times on here, that is already stickied applies to the pro just as it does the other models. The pro has wheels just like any other truck. They are not magic wheels that change the dynamics of mounting tires.

i have 265/75/16 toyo at2's on my pro, alittle bit over 31 1/2 inches tall,, if i go 285's with my pro sema rims i just bought, by turning my wheel and looking at the clearance i have left, it looks like they would clear fine,, a 285/70 is alittle over an inch taller than the 265/75, which is alittle over 1/2 in on a side,, i know its wider by a little less than an inch,,, it anything it might hit my front mudflaps,,, im still deciding on a size for my second set of rims,, they will be my summer/quiet tires... im also considering a 275/70/17... ive seen other 3rd gens up close and the front sits higher for sure.. on my pro..

    265/75-16 285/70-17 Difference
    Diameter inches (mm)
    31.65 (803.9) 32.71 (830.8) 1.06 (26.9) 3.3%

This. Some will say x/y/z will fit fine, but then go on to say they get a slight rub backing up, or they haven't had full articulation offroad etc. That's not fitting IMO.

No. Lifting a truck will NOT increase the tire size you can run. Well not if you keep the same up travel. They might rub less often on a lifted truck, but that's still not fitting. If your lift reduced how far the wheel is pushed up into the fender, or where / how your wheel it placed in the fender when the suspension compressed then the max tire size changes. The 16" Pro wheel have a very slightly different offset to the stock OR 16" wheels, pushing them out 1/2" further each side. This will ever so slightly move the wheel placement, so depending on where a particular tire rubs on the stock OR this alone may change the max tire size ever so slightly for the Pro.

i think the 16 inch, 2017 pro rim and the 17 inch pro-sema rims are pretty much the same as far as offset and backspace,,

is the rubbing on the inside of the fender well mainly? i am just wondering if fender flares would allow for a larger sized tire?

Older thread I know, but if anyone is still wondering what the largest tire in terms of height that you can run on stock 3rd gen TRD pro or Off Road, that would be 255/85/16 they are 33s (32.9) as long as you have a 3rd Gen Tacoma AND are mounting to the stock 16 in wheel. These tires fit perfectly with the Offset of that wheel. Any wider tire, different wheel offset, or 1st or 2nd gen Tacoma, and you may start rubbing. A lot of people have reported the same and I for one can say from experience as of this week. Just installed some Cooper Discoverer ST Maxx 255/85/16s with no rubbing on full tuck... donuts for days.

    Check it...

Honestly, I’m not sure because I removed the front mud flaps when I put on my rock sliders. I’ll probably remove the rear ones at some point too for added clearance when off road. My opinion though is that you could probably leave the front mud flaps on and be okay since I believe the flaps extend down on the same contour as the fender and don’t extend inward toward the tire.
