Magnuson is advertising the 1900 for the 3.6 in the Jeep Gladiator, so it is plausible that they have developed it for the 2GR-FKS. The 1900 will have substantially cooler output temps when compared to the 1320... something that high comp ratio will require.

Is this a roots type blower or centrifugal? A centrifugal blower isn't going to solve the complaints about the 3.5 but I'm sure it would be fun up top. Also, whoever said turbos couldn't make low end torque needs to put down the crack pipe. A turbo kit or a roots blower would make the Tacoma fun to drive. That said, I don't think the auto trans is going to take kindly to any kind of forced induction power adder at all.

My wallet meter conscience thingy tolerates about $85 per reliable upgrade pony. So $6500 per 75hp would be my limit. $6500 per 100hp would be my max as I really don't think I want an additional 120hp+ in my DD Tacoma. And of course, there's the tuning to be considered. With an OVTune already on board, I might be able to get a reduced cost tune from OVTune for a Magnuson SC. With the OVTune SC purchase, it would be included I assume. So price points for hardware may differ some, but so does the tune aspect. Exciting times for the next year!

OVTune 3.5L Tacoma Supercharger and Twin Turbo Systems - comment on transmission capabilities.

It's all 'he said, she said' of course. Anything over what the factory recommends is suspect, but real world experiences do come into play and perhaps past performances may be an indicator of future results.

Absolutely agree. Just saying that I think it would be what let go first. I don't think the Aisin trans in the Taco is a piece of junk and I don't think adding 100 hp to the 3.5 is going to instantly grenade it, but I do think it's probably going to be the weak spot over time (unless the engine tuning is wrong, which will grenade stuff and is the most likely scenario). Purely speculation on my part.

There are loads of 1st and 2nd gen Tacoma’s with hundreds of thousands of miles on their supercharged engines with absolutely no issues. Some are highly modded to put much more boost through and still fine. But the standard configuration on my TRD (Magnuson) 2nd gen s/c is a worry-free setup ... and endless fun.

Thanks. Apparently I don’t know how to navigate their site because I still couldn’t find it. Found the Jeep one:annoyed:

I assume the tune will require premium gas?

I'm not sure about the requirement of premium gas. I would think that will be the case. There is no information other than the cost on the website. Here is a screen shot of the website. I can't seem to make the link work.

if you use the search button on the website and search for "tacoma" it should come up.

I'm not sure on adding a supercharger. I'm content with the power of my truck. I use it as a daily driver, tow a small travel trailer and it has more than enough power. On the other hand, I have always wanted to add a supercharger to a vehicle. I will probably wait and see how it performs and bum a ride in one and make a decision. I'm sure it would make the truck more fun to drive. :) Are you going to get one?

For now I’m interested and looking forward to some in depth YouTube reviews as well for the first Tacomaworld member to post about his/her experience. It’s quite a bit of money so for myself it will come down to how long I expect to keep my Tacoma. I don’t have a clue how resell goes with a 6500 dollar supercharger attached. I’ll be checking in on the SEMA action for sure.

Has anyone gotten any updates from their Microsoft Forms thingy yet?

My thoughts on this coming from a TRD supercharged Tundra (with overdrive crank pulley for +3psi) is that Magnuson makes a great product. I did the install myself in about 12 hours and the instructions were super easy to follow. Performance speaks for itself and I had no other issues on the truck in the 75k miles I put on the engine after installing the SC.

Having OVTuned tuning software on my Tacoma now and seeing some of his other comments about supporting Magnuson with his tuning is that it will be a great combo. My personal thought (with information available at this time) is that we will buy the SC kit with Magnuson's tuning and then have an option to load an OVT with some tweaks.

Similar to what Bullydog did with the Tundra units (I know comparing apples to oranges now). You'd flash the Toyota tune to the truck and then on top of that could get the bullydog plug-in tuner to have different levels of power output and transmission/throttle sensitivity based on the tune that was loaded.

At the end of the day I'm still super excited for this and hope it is compatible with winches/bumpers/secondary batteries like the current Tacoma and T4R kits are!
