The 3.5L v6 pings / detonates like hell from the factory. Not even related to the tune, happens on stock trucks from faulty crank sensors.

We have not ditched the idea at all. We're just at max capacity at the moment with the 3.5 and 4.0L.
We absolutely want to work with 2.7L owners, we are just understaffed right now to do so.

Driving the truck in S5 is making things a wee bit better for me. That 6th gear is useless on the interstate though: in 5th going 65mph+, truck shifts into 6th at about 70, *driver sets cruise control*, truck struggles for 3 seconds to stay at 70, the truck downshifts from 6th to 4th gear, the gear shift makes the truck go from 70 to 67, engine revs up to 5000 rpms to accelerate from 67 back to 70, jolting driver back into the seat. Truck reaches 70mph again and the cycle continues.

If I set the truck on S5, it rolls 70-75mph at 2200 rpms, and I'm ok with that. Disappointed in the below standard behavior of the truck at interstate speeds on D mode, and it probably wasn't great forthe brand new engine, but whatever.

I apologize for keeping everyone waiting so long. The 3.5L version of the truck is a mess and has eaten up all of our time and then some.

Interestingly enough if you talk to any V6 owner they report almost the exact same symptoms and issues. When you have 2 engines with a pretty large power differential both complaining of the same issues, it's usually not the powerplant but the drivetrain. And pretty much proves my biggest complaint since day 1: The gearing on the 6AT is bad. 6th is too deep of an overdrive, 5th should have been the 6th, and we need a nicer spread of ratios for 3-4-5.

Sadly though, new ratios is not something OVTune can do for us. ;)

Yeah based on your descriptions of the maps they're like 4th dimensional tesseracts of mind bending complication. I'm a pretty patient dude but just know that in general "we" (the 4 cylinder market) will keep on poking... :boink:

On the bright side I do recall you saying the 2TR did have simpler maps! :anonymous:

Don't mean to add fuel to the fire but this is the first time I've ever been disappointed in Toyota. They really dropped the ball. Never thought I'd see the day. Times are changing I guess.

I installed the LCE header in my truck and while I was skeptical, it did make a very welcomed change in the midrange which is exactly what this truck needed. If the ECM tune comes along and makes it even better, then I’ll finally make the jump to 255/85’s but until then, smaller/lighter tires it is :/
