Always on? I not trying to be a jerk, but there are so many folks running around with fogs on 24/7, not to mention high beams on 24/7. Add in some brighter than stock bulbs, and the glare is ridonkulous.

Just a note, that I do support this mod, and whatever else folks run, as long as it is not on for on-coming traffic.

I have a plug-n-play harness that allows me to operate my lights as normal and then when I switch to my high beams it also turns on my fog lights whether my fog lights are on or not. It also shows me that my fog lights are on as well so the indicator light is on with the high beams indicator light on the dash. I originally purchased the kit that @Victory used because I was going to do the same thing until I found this PNP Harness. The only thing it doesn’t allow me to do is turn the fog lights on with my lights off. Therefore, I am going to work on combining this PNP Harness and that one part of this mod and then I will be putting it all together and have it as one of my options if anyone is interested.

I will be releasing a thread once I get some of my current project out and released. I have a couple of them that have been knocking on the door for the last couple of weeks ready for release and they’ve just been waiting for the like one or two things. Once those last couple things get finalized it will release me to focus on this mod. I have a lot of people that have been asking me

Does your fog light indicator on your dash turn on when you hit the high beam switch and your high beams and fogs turn on?

I’m getting closer. Sorry guys. So many mods I’ve been releasing I haven’t had time to get this one released yet. It’s coming. I promise

I used a bright box on my truck.
I hope you get a nice clean harness install out to the people!

Yeah I will. I don’t know what a bright box is. I have a nice clean Plug-N-Play Harness it is not 100% Plug-N-Play because you have to tap into some places there’s just no way around it but I will make it as easy as possible for sure and clean.

Oh yeah. The bright box was 100% plug and play (minus the battery connector) I’ll shoot you a PM.

There is no easy way to get the fog indicator on the dash to function with high beams on unfortunately. It’s all communication bus stuff. If I were doing the modification, I would probably just use the factory switch to trigger the factory relay and skip the transistor and resistor. You won’t have the indicator on the dash at all but at least it’s consistent, haha.

Only issue is that it is independent of the auto system, and so it would be possible to leave the fogs on when the truck is off. If you wanted to avoid that you can change the trigger wire on the fog relay to an ignition power source instead.

My setup is a variation of a few methods already mentioned. I have Rigid spot and SAE fog lights connected to custom harnesses with relays. The fog lights plug into the OEM fog light circuit in order to maintain their OEM functionality. The spot lights are on a switched circuit that is triggered by the high beams. Later, the fog lights were added to this circuit so they will also come on with the spot lights. Now, when the spot light switch is in the ON position, my spot and fog lights come on with the high beams. If the spot light switch is in the OFF position, none of the auxiliary lights come on with the high beams.

This build does not use a MOSFET or resistors. However, I had to add a third relay that is triggered by the high beams. Since the fog lights have two input sources, the OEM and high-beams circuits, backfeed voltage would occur whenever the fog lights were turned on using the factory switches. Voltage would go back through the trigger wire to the spot light switch and then trigger the spot lights.

By placing an open relay between the spot light switch and the fog lights relay, the backfeed voltage is effectively blocked from the spot light circuit.

A huge shout out to my Obi-Wan, @crashnburn80, for showing me the "light". He is a wealth of information and great ideas. I must give him props for his suggestion to use the third relay, instead of a heat-generating resistor that is more prone to failure.
