It was a fun exercise to brainstorm through. I may use a similar wiring setup in the near future with the additional aux lights I have in the works. :)

I guess if I wanted a response I probably should have copied @KTJO 4x4 on my question.

So what this does not show is weather or not you even use the factory harness to plug into the fog lights. I am going to take a guess and say that you wire this into a plug that fits the fog lights and you leave the factory plugs tucked somewhere away?
I have a TRD pro and water got in one of the rigid fog lights and its $250 just to replace one pod... I am going to switch them for CaliRaised aftermarket LED fogs and you can get them with a plug and play conversion for the factory harness as seen here.

    https://caliraisedoffroad.com/colle...-4runner-led-pod-to-fog-light-conversion-plug

If what I said earlier was true about just leaving the factory harness tucked away then i would be able to use the conversion plug and take the factory side of the plug off and directly wire it to the power and ground from your diagram and viola it works?
Or am i way off lol?

    EDIT*
I also forgot to ask. So I dont wanna use the dim feature, if I just wire the yellow wire to the 12v power I will always have the brightest setting? If i just leave it neutral it will be the medium bright setting? If i ground it to something it will be the dimmest setting? obviously I am gonna want it to just stay on the setting I like but I wanted to make sure I had that theory correct.

Ive got a 2018 sport 6MT and it works independently from the lights on mine. On the switch, first click is for the led DRL, second click is for the fogs, and third turns on the headlights.

Is this not normal on all 3rd gen tacomas?

I do not (did not) use the factory plugs on mine, I tucked them away so I could put the factory fogs back in if I ever wanted to. I purchased some harness from Amazon, I think its listed early in the thread, not by me, I just got the one that was listed. You could, if you wanted, cut your factory harness connectors off and use them to wire to your new fogs to the setup I show. I wouldn't, I didn't have to cut any wires during the install, keeping the factory wiring intact was a priority for me.

If you wire the yellow wire directly to the +12V the fogs would be at max brightness all the time when on. Buying the dimmer controller and following my setup would be pointless if you wired the yellow wire directly to +12V. You could just hard wire them to be bright af without the controller. If you wire the yellow wire to ground you can program a brightness level when you start the truck, it can be changed as many times as you want.

I would wire in the switch, I keep the BD fogs I have at 30% when on regular roads, if i use them (rain fog snow). The 100% is way overkill and you will blind the f out of oncoming traffic, its a dick move. When I turn on the high beams and the fogs are on, they switch to 100% automatically, night becomes day, its crazy bright.

Do you not have a separate switch on the headlight stock for your fogs? I'm thinking that yours aren't normal. I obviously can't speak for everyone but (from what i can remember, not in my truck or going to look) the first position is drl/headlights off, second is auto headlights/drl, third is drl only, fourth is headlights/drl on, there is another switch on the same stock closer to the steering wheel for fogs on off.

If you bought the truck used maybe the PO installed factory fogs but re-wired the stock to make them work instead of buying the correct one? idk

I have a 2018 Sport also, my outer ring switch is Off / DRL / Parking lights / Headlights. My inner ring switch is fog light Off / On. My fog lights only come on if the first switch is on either Parking lights or Headlights.

This is a better explanation of it. I just always have my fogs on.

So what exactly is the point of this mod? I mean I feel like I can turn my fogs on without the headlights so... what's the point of splicing into my wiring and creating weak points in the harness?
