I consider the Dark Grey Black because it basically is Black and then the SR5 model I guess has a Grey Interior

Quick question. Does the pillar itself (not your molded piece) have a threaded boss that will take the bolts. So as to take the actual weight of my pulling on this handle? I'm very interested. I had a 1997 Tacoma, which was a mini truck. My 2016 though is pretty high and I'm tuggin' at the steering wheel to climb in....

The 3rd gen has the leftover brackets in the A-pillar structure from the 2nd gen. The top hole has a welded nut for mounting the stock A-pillar trim. The bottom hole is empty, which is why the web page says a 1/4" clip nut and bolt are included in the kit.

Totally missed that... but sounds like a solid solution. I already ordered so I’m on the KT wagon.

Has there been any airbag (crash) testing with this? The air bags are designed differently on the driver's side vs the passenger side with the 3rd gen. The airbag on the passenger side, does not go under the grab handle. Hopefully it doesn't become a projectile or the driver doesn't hit the handle with their head when the unfortunate event of an accident happens. The 2nd gen isn't the exact same interior design.

    Of course not...

I may be the minority here, but I don't care. My first car didn't even have airbags. My second vehicle, a motorcycle, doesn't have air bags.

A 0.25 lb handle probably won't feel great when getting beaned with it... but I bet your backpack in the back seat, the dog in the passenger seat, or the molle rack over your head in the backseat will feel worse... or maybe the shattering windshield in your face... needless to say, I think a small plastic handle is the least of your concerns.

I think the OP may respond, but I believe it’s been determined that the exit path for the bag is forward of the handle. That’s by no means a definitive ‘okay to use’, but there has been some consideration of the issue.

Somewhere on TW it was discussed that in the crash tests, the dummy driver's head tapped the grab handle. Toyota is just CYA.

I would guess the steering wheel bag would stop the A pillar handle from getting to you. Or wouldn't the A pillar hit you all the same?

I wonder whats the pressure capacity on the handle as well? Those who have a high lift may want to know this information as well. Any idea, OP?

Probably similar to the OEM passenger side handle ;)

It would be best to have that confirmation straight from OP. You don't want to run into a situation where you are pulling yourself inside your truck and falling to the ground with the handle still in your hand, lol.
