    FRS/BRZ/Type 86 was a joint venture between Subaru and Toyota. Toyota owns a huge non-controlling stake in Subaru. If you get in the Subaru version, you'll see things that are obviously Toyota and vice-versa.

    The Toyota IA (and Scion variant) aren't just Mazda engines - the whole car pretty much is. Similar to when Toyota sold the Matrix to GM, GM re-named it the Vibe and re-did parts of the interior (and before that with the Geo something - it was a Corolla).

    Lotus has used highly modified Toyota 1.8 blocks for years. There's even a rumor that about 1500 Lotus-tuned engines came back and got put in Corollas.

    The oligarchies that car companies are now days work together or have joint ventures all the time.

    I was unaware of this. Never have been a a fan of anything Scion so this doesn’t surprise me, or why they went out of business.
