It would have been if he had started to correct the problem when it first started happening instead of making panic decisions.

I am old enough to be many Tacoma owner's father. Let me tell you a little secret... This truck will run circles around the 1981 Toyota pickup and my new 1984 4Runner. Not even close man.

@SilverSky. In a few days when the pain has subsided some. Please tell us the whole story. We could all learn. There are many genuine questions. Don't mind the folk making fun, it's not worth the locked thread.

, this is at rowher flats area Santa Clarita, rowher trail (black diamond) beginnng of trail lake side, we showed up trying to get into trail ,FJ was blocking the entrance, informed us of the taco being stuck. He then drove in when he got a call on the walkie to bring the winch. We walked into trail to find taco half way up the hill, u bolts broken driveshaft broken ,axle flipped yoke facing rear, one of the guys there said ,truck wouldn't get past the last hump at top of hill , taco mashed on the gas to try n get over after bouncing around not going nowhere shit just broke,my guess is this particular spot is all rock tires were bouncing slipping/getting traction causing massive axle wrap. By the time we walked down there they had their plan about pulling the taco down with the winch, after looking n seeing no u bolts .We told them they should secure the axle nothing's holding it it' gonna slide to the front, guy winching said it' fine it' fine, kept telling them, wouldn't listen started their plan got to high ground n watched in horror the death of a taco.also why at the end of vid u hear my friend say "called it" After that they started talking bout hi lifting the rear to reposition the axle to secure it, we helped get the axle out from under the truck ,told the guy only way this thing is getting out of here is to drag it, some guys coming down the hill winched on to the front to keep it from flipping over, I couldn't take it anymore ,we walked back our trucks n left the kids were hungry , n that folks is what happened

Also it appears that they were pulling it down the hill. This would seem to imply that the truck was having some kind of driveline issue to begin with.

Well I think he could still take it in for warranty, probably weak pinion gear.
