update. just letting eveyone know that within the next year i will be moving on and swapping the tacoma to a 2018 tundra platinum probably (or 2019 depending on the announcement in jan-feb of 2018 if there is a next gen tundra).

so after this model year i may not update this thread anymore.

Just bought my new Tacoma. Was looking hard at the Tundra as it filled the gaps my old Tacoma lacked. In the end I just couldn't get past the uber dated feeling interior of the current Tundra, and I much prefer the overall appearance of the 3rd gen Tacomas. I would have left the Taco in the rear view had this year been Tundra a model year change. In the end I needed a truck now, so I grab 2017 at a decent price. And honestly the Taco meets my current needs.

Is it normal for clutch pedal to vibrate when engaging under higher load such as Hill starts?

When exactly were 7164 and 7593 made? Those were never produced.

as far as 7164, i am not sure if that was a model code that was only available in .CA or they just never made one even though it was on the master list being tracked as a new model code last year. i had it on the list as unknown code as ????, but i never did get any solid info on the code but i did have invoice/msrp pricing for it.

it looks to be 7594 in access cab form instead of double cab.

7593 might be an error on my part, but from the internal docs from dealer daily it shows as being discontinued.

nevermind, those models where fleet vehicles only, so they never got to be ordered via a dealer normal channels.

you can already ask a dealer to do allocation requests. now whether a dealer will use one up an allocation to direct what you specificially want is the hard part. some dealers have an issue of its a model/option loadout that doesnt sell very well. me, i already have my dealer put in an allocation request for a Tundra BBP Platinum for replacing the tacoma. the GM doesnt have an issue fulfilling my request since i have bought my last 7 vehciles from them and have bought 9 toyota's from them since 2004.

Super new to this forum, just looking for the proper thread regarding purchasing a Tacoma below msrp or at cost. Obviously we would all want to do that, but has anyone ever posted about their "uncle" that works for Toyota in Texas and how they ordered one through him? Any help would be great or I will start going down the road of that super awesome thread about willing to drive a certain # of miles and the tournament bracket between dealers who can get me the best price. Thanks!

For those that ordered a third GEN without floor mats, whether carpet or all weather did the truck still come with attachment point on the driver floorboard. I was going to have weather tech's ready to go as soon as the truck was delivered. If it would not come with the attachment point, I would just order the carpet floor mats and save in the garage

well latest update, its pretty much a done deal, new 2018 Platinum Tundra 4x4 in Blazing Blue w/ KG (running boards black), 3P (paint protection) and SR (moonroof) options. build date 01-Nov-2017. hoping to have it before i go on our trip from ND to GA on the 19-Nov but if not we can always use the 4Runner.

    $52,750 MSRP Final - $4500 = $48,250

    2016 TRD Sport 4x4 v6 Trade In = $33000 w/ 18k miles, owe 21k

we took delivery oct-2015, roughly 2yrs of ownership.

well in case anyone wants to know the deal i made on the 2018 tundra platinum ...

    2018 Tundra Deal.jpg

edit : wanted to add, the $48,296 is ~$700 below invoice per kbb, the $15,296 is what the tax is based on, ~$1000 vs if i didnt do a trade in of $5400 tax.

the 33k is the dealer trade in and the 21k is what i owe on the 2016 tacoma.

the trucks are the wife's vehicles, i dont really car for trucks myself. i am a 4runner person.

my dad was toyota back in the late 70's when we got back from korea in 78. and yes we drove a toyota to detroit in the timeframe when people would give you major shade and whatnot for driving in the motor city in a japanese car.

edit: so naturally i got on the toyota wagon way back when i was in my early teens. i thought his 78 cressida with the digital speedometer and bar graph rpm indicator was cool. over the years i have tried other brands and mostly had good outcomes but i got to the point i just want to drive a vehicle and be done with it (read i dont have time to sit/wait/drop/pickup from a dealer to get stuff fixed).

i would love to have a lexus and i almost bought a GS350 about 2 years ago, but talking to lexus financial (they handle the warranty/ext warranty work) i would have to take it to a lexus dealer to get any work done. needless to say the nearest one is 550 miles away so i stuck to toyota until they get one in the state (which wont happen due to population density doesnt meet lexus requirements for the whole state. i think the minimum is 1 million and we only have about 660k)

So NoDak, the build date they gave me on my new Tacoma is 10/30. They told me it would be 4-6 weeks after that to receive itat the dealership. Did they tell you something different such that you will have yours by Nov 19 with a Nov 1 build date? Or is it faster for Tundras? Maybe the sales guy had no idea what he was talking about. What is everyone elses experience?
