Not sure about Ala. these days but they use to not have inspections. I saw lots of tinted winshields.

update 27 : updated BZ code, white only.

edit : updated BZ code, verified that this is not regulated to just white.

I have some questions and hope someone can help. The dealer printed out for me some options/accessories that can be installed at the port (between the factory and the dealer). He is asking me to make a decision on these soon. So, here are my questions...

    1. I want a black tube step, rail, etc. The one toyota offers is a 5" oval with the invoice of $320. Does anyone recommend a particular aftermarket version that looks a lot nicer? Or, a black one that will not rust?

    2. They list S9 "CATD - Special Vehicle Package" - what the heck is that?

    3. They list something called U2 "Vendor Purchase" - again...WTF?

    4. They list D7 "Courtesy Delivery Veh/TMS/NFS" - what is that?

    5. I know I am forgetting something....

What do these things cost? Can you post a picture of the sheet? Is there a picture of the truck? Special Vehicle Package could be something done at port for an extra fee. Courtesy Vehicle sounds like a way for them to assist you when you come in for service, like a rental car fee. Vendor purchase sounds like a fee they charge for extra bs.

In all, they all sound like Dealer Profit instead of option packages.

There is no pic to post. They were listed on the dealer's computer screen. He made screen prints and e-mailed them to me. I listed them in my post above exactly how they are listed on their computer screen.

anything outside of my original post is dealer/regional codes. all I posted was official model/packages/options per Toyota.

how each region/dealer does markup, weird options or padding, is outside of Toyota's reach. More so if you in SET/GST regions.

edit: that's where the real haggling comes in, removing the crap they silently add to get more money :)

I also have a question? The 900.00 they put on the window sticker for delivery, processing and handling. Is this a legitimate cost for me to pay or just another silent profit for them? Thanks for your help.

Is the 900.00 dph fee legit, or just a built in profit?

Legit... even if you buy at a dealer next to the plant... something about unions and such...

Your skills to negotiate, and the dealer willingness to do so, will influence the out the door price...but that charge is always there...

It's a law that destination charges do not vary. Everyone pays that. There is money made in the cost, but it's standard for all vehicles
