Personally I think OEM Tow package > OEM Tonneau Cover.

A thousand times yes. Look at the Tonneau cover in person. Meh build quality and they cut the bed for it. The Tow package has many valuable bits, and much better for resale.

Sadly both 6MT trucks I am looking at has the silly tonneau cover. Can't have them take it off :(

But positive both trucks have the tow package and moonroof, which are must for me in a 4x4

What I'm saying is get the tonneau cover in additional to tow package for an additional $600. Essentially still get $600 off invoice

That deal is a serious winner then.

I called different dealerships to see if they can beat that. All of the dealership that I dealt with told me to stop waiting and take the deal because it is very good.

The dealer that I'm working with told me to go aftermarket on the cover since they need to drill for the OEM one. Honest guy!

Some people on here have been selling their oem tonneau covers to other guys locally and swapping the bed rail plates so there is no visual way to see that it was drilled unless you remove the rails.

its because the dest cost is different for GST & SET & Toyota. its listed in the post. that's why its a separate line item and why I don't include it in the invoice/msrp pricing.

So I've been going back and forth with the dealer on the price for my build, got him down to $35750 and he said that was a low as he could go. Went to my other two dealers and one said he wouldn't go below $36300, that's his best. The 3rd guy actually called and said, invoice on the same truck was $36590 and that I should take the deal from the lowest guy because its a stupid good deal. Interesting to hear a dealer say that, I'm wondering if he's telling the truth and if dealers 1 and 2 are really losing money on the truck??

He also mentioned dealers will sometimes do this and order the truck without thing people have asked for and when they get the truck they say "oh darn, that should have been on there. For another $x I'll make you a good deal and put that on there for you". He said it takes buyers out of the market and then frustrates them into making a bad decision later and adding the features they should have gotten originally. Not sure if that's happened to anyone here but an interesting dealer story regardless.

As long as you itemize every single item on the build and include every possible fee, and as long as you are very explicit with the salesman you should be confident that the price is legit. They can always pull something shady, but if your final price includes TDA, gas, doc, destination, title/license, all build/accessories you want, and you know how much tax will be on top, you should be good to go. This is the sheet I use: https://www.carbuyingtips.com/download/offer.xls

I'm not too worried that they're going to charge me extra because if I signed for it and it's on the original form then that's what I'm getting. I'm just surprised that one dealer told me that was well below his invoice and that it was a great deal. The shady part isn't surprising but I'm not too worried about that part.

My only caution is to make sure it just isn't the salesman's "price" which he still needs to get approved by the new car manager. I had that one pulled on me. He said he could do this awesome price, but later came back and said the manager disapproved it. I was mad he wasted my time even offering it to me.

Yep!! That happened to me at lunch today when I went in. Said we agreed then came back with a new number. I said no, either we agreed on the number and we use that or I walk out. I walked out haha. Now trying to haggle with another guy, that's where my comments come in earlier. It's frustrating when that happens

Sometimes this happens when there is more than 1 sales manager on different shifts. Example :

Sales Manager A verbally approves a # with a salesperson, who makes the mistake of not getting it in writing. Customer comes in the next day. Salesperson goes Sales Manger B and asks for the same discount and is denied and because nothing is in writing, it's all hearsay. Other times this happens because your salesperson doesn't know WTF they're doing.

Pro Tip : If your salesperson gives you a great price for a vehicle, lock it in with a deposit ASAP! Any reputable dealer will honor that price if you have it in writing and have given a deposit and if they won't, then they don't deserve your business.

I misread your signature block and thought it said "Burnababy Toyota" and though, "this guy doesn't mess around!"

I figured I did well on my out-of-town special order deal when my local dealership looked at my (in writing) offer and after bragging they could match any price down to cost, couldn't match it. Ha. Regional fee differences to the rescue? No idea.

    I like it! :

I'm surprised your local dealership wouldn't match the quote considering that you would most likely service your new vehicle with them so they stand to keep you as a customer and have a better chance at selling you your next truck!

I was in the same situation. A local dealer told me that they can beat the price On my quote and threw in the tonneau cover for free. I was about to put the deposit and told me that they could not do it and gave me a more expensive vehicle
