3rd gen Tacoma trans flush

Hey

i have the extra trans cooler being a tow package.

is it needed to pin the trans thermostat? if yes, please explain why!

 

Yes, the t stat stays closed when cold, you want the fluid circulating, it also ensures the correct fluid level is set.

 

when do i pin it? when do i unpin it?

i went down to my local toyota and they cant understand why people are pinning it they have never done that during a trans flush..

 

It's literally procedure on all Toyotas with thermostat lines, Tundra, Tacoma, Highlander and Sienna.

You pin it, get it to 40c then open the overflow.

Wait wait wait, this is 2nd gen.

2nd gens dont have thermostats.
