Yeah, well common problems with aftermarket lifts is VSC going crazy with the 2012 and later year Tacomas. That won't happen with the Pro or the previous Baja suspension.

Please. How would you know if or not it was a "functional off-roader"?

I have to laugh because there are only maybe 5000 people that have ever driven a Baja edition or TRD Pro offroad. And you are not one of them. So how would you know.

I drove my 2012 SR5 15,000 miles with the factory Baja suspension that I slapped on aftermarket. It was dynamite. I ran that Baja suspension in Utah, Colorado, Nevada, trailered up. Highspeed desert is where it did best, absorbs dips, handled washboards beautifully uphill and downhill.

That's a good looking truck by the way. Kind of a Dodge Durango/Grand Cherokee rip off. Is it the new Explorer?

It's the Ford Everest, built on the Ranger T6 platform. Sold in Africa, Asia, and I "think" maybe Australia ... don't quote me on Australia though :) They're pretty nice and known to be a good off-road platform, comparable to something like the 4Runner, but not quiet on par with a Wrangler at rock crawling. It's basically about the same size as an Explorer, but more focused at being useful off-road. Pretty popular in India and South Africa.

I also wouldn't necessarily call it a Durango/Cherokee rip-off as it wasn't designed in the US, and isn't sold in the US ... so it's really designed for other markets, and there isn't any competition or influence by Chrysler in that area.

I lol'd at that too. People love throwing around terms to make themselves feel smarter or an expert in an area. I mean really, what does "functional off-roader" even mean? What would a "non-functional off-roader" be? Hell what does off-road even mean. Everyone has their own definition of off-road and it seems like the bigger the lift and tires gets the bigger the e-penis does as well.

The TRD OR has one. Its not as thick but it has one. And really does this help off road performance?

Chief engineer in the video from Chicago that's on Facebook continues to emphasize the development of the TRD Pro was for people who "desert race", not rock crawl. Take that for what it's worth but "desert racing" is the intended use of the TRD Pro.

I am pretty sure that desert racing has always been the intended use of the TRD PRO...including the previous gen.

    I know it's just a marketing catch-phrase but it's worth taking into consideration if you're comparing it's "offroad-worthiness" to other vehicles/models.

if you care about getting home, yes the skid plate adds to the performance of the truck.

I guess it's like sliders, spare tires, winches, and straps. They are possible performance. I assume you would say that a winch adds performance to a vehicle....
