N8 has the right idea, but you're probably right. They'll push the aesthetics more than actual features. Things like seats/stitching, interior trinkets and badging, exterior badging/decals, grill/skid and possibly embossed logos and of course the unique colors. They will do suspension and tire/wheel upgrades with it though. TRD Exhaust?

Exactly... That's the Toyota thing to do. Although it wouldn't completely surprise me to see a front locker to set it apart a bit more in the off-road department

    no crap... haha

hell at this point I would settle for KDSS and a higher performance tune on the engine (same as the lexus RX 350 Fsport). which yeah, I know... I'll still be disappointed.

But hey, maybe I'll get some bedside stamping in the sheetmetal and a limited interior suite and some headlight washers as the "functional mods". (sarcasm)

I was merely trying to make a point that it's marketed and sold as a limited production model designed for the offroad enthusiast direct from the factory and they put different seats, a new shift knob, some floormats and different tires (and wheels) on it and call it good.

Where is the function in these differences? The approach and departue angles and ground clearance are all the same. there is no added offroad drivetrain features (like KDSS or a front locker or higher performance engine)...

it's all smoke and mirrors across the entire pro lineup right now unfortunately. The value for the money just isn't there from the consumers perspective if like me you want go and not show....

If they did something with the motor I would be seriously intrigued otherwise I'll just keep my current taco.

I am curious to see what they add to the current OR model besides a lift, wheels, tires and a grill to brand it a Pro.

In regards to the hybrid discussion, a hybrid tacoma would most likely exist for MPG purposes. The other application for hybrids is towing (Cummins has looked very seriously at this) because of the instant torque. Toyota has been very clear that the taco is for the off road enthusiast and that towing is #22 on their list of priorities, so I don't expect a towing-oriented hybrid anytime soon.

Toyota will never put a front locker in a truck or suv. they will be replacing them like crazy under warranty. It can't make money in the long run

Why is that? What makes a front locker a warranty concern?

You guys are all wrong. This is clearly the introduction of a new S-Runner using a Twin turbo version of the 4.8L 1LR-GUE LF-A motor, making in the neighborhood of 750hp at 12K rpm. MSRP is expected to be around $113K.

The engine sits over the front wheels. Too much weight on each tire for an independent locker

It's going to be a Sport exterior with the OR rear locker, MTS, crawl and a mild lift. TRD rims with BFGs and of course TRD badging.

Same upgrades as the 2nd gen Pro.

I thought i saw black flares like the trd off road if you look closely, i could be wrong though.

Personally, i think the trd pro will look better with the flares like the off road if it does have it. Feel like it would go well with the black grill.
