Has anyone driven or seen the new Ranger in person? It looks way better than the Tacoma!

Obviously I'm joking because the new ranger is absolutely hideous. I finally saw one in person yesterday and couldn't believe how much worse it looked than the photos. My wife (who knows/cares zero about vehicles) even commented on how it looked "constipated". Personally I think the medium/higher trim F-150's look really good and i'm shocked that Ford allowed this ugly thing onto dealership lots.

Now to the important part, has anyone driven the unsightly ranger? If so, how does it compare to the Tacoma? I've watched a few YouTube videos, but I don't necessarily trust the reviewers.

I rented one for a week after I wrecked my Taco. Big step down from the Tacoma. Driving it was kind of a chore, it seemed like it always wanted to leave the lane. It wasn't a balance issue, as it would drift both ways. The controls were not intuitive at all, and the entertainment system was a joke. It was an XLT, so it's their mid-level trim, not the basic model. I must say, the seats were pretty comfortable and it seemed to be a little faster than my 2019 Taco but those are the only two pluses compared to the Tacoma. I'm so glad I was able to rent one because I'd have always been curious. I would not recommend the new Ranger to anyone.

Thanks for the info. Even if the ranger exceeded the taco in every way, I would still not be able to buy it. Having to walk up to that thing everyday would make me sad lol.

In 1912 Ford engineers figured out the problem with Ford and circled it. Fast forward 117 years and the problem is still circled.

I saw one this past weekend in Terlingua. They don't look great but this one looked better than what I had seen in photos. I have no regrets.

I’ve seen a few around town, in traffic. It looks very “soft” (feminine) to me, kind of like a Ridgeline softness

Apparently Ford is releasing an all new design in 2021. Not sure why they even bothered bringing this gen to the US

We shall see what the sales number is when the release the first quarter number next month, it's probably not too great.

I saw one for the first time about a week ago, and at first sight I didn't like it. I've only seen the one in person. For me it was between the Tacoma and Ranger. I'm glad I picked the Tacoma. I believe the Ranger has a better payload capacity and higher towing but the Tacoma's off road capability is superior to the Ranger. Plus I didn't like the Ranger only coming with one engine option, a 4 cylinder turbo.

Did you see how the rear seats fold down? The bottoms don't go up and the backs don't fold down flat. I mean, its a small gripe but come on Ford? You couldn't do any better? Plus loaded out, isn't it like $48K??? That thing will depreciate faster than a Porsche Cayenne!
