What happens on cold start? MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) measures pressure. Density is a calculation based on MAP output and temperature. ECU monitors and controls. When you go to WOT then that takes the MAP out of the circuit, which is why you see those slight gains in that condition. Funny thing tho... I have seen two dyno run charts that were done with no filter (best case for high airflow) and the HP was actually reduced a tad bit.

    Source? I'm curious

Logic. WOT is exactly that... everything is max. Sure, ECU is going for the ratio but it will use whatever it has. Remember that this truck's performance is a compromise. It needs torque to, well, be a truck and tow or carry a load but it also needs to be as efficient as possible. WOT is the anthesis of efficiency, usually only used in exceptional situations. In this condition it will give you everything it has.

Again source please? Because logically, at WOT You'd still need calculations for the truck to reach stoichiometric efficiency especially at WOT. It's going to have a hard time getting it, but I doubt your injectors will open 100%, 100% of the time at WOT.

But if you have a source, I'd love to read up on it, because your argument makes no sense to me, I would like to educate myself.

I don't know about the tacoma specifically, but some of the cheapo engines in the past would bypass the O2 sensor at wot and just use lookup tables in the ecu to guess what the best ratio for fuel and timing would be based upon map/maf, tps, rpms, etc. Which BTW is a maf sensor in this truck... Im not sure if any toyota product now uses map sensors anymore.

I knew it had a maf, wasn't sure if it had a map. I haven't looked that close into the truck. I'm used to my Subaru which has both, lol.
