@KB Voodoo Are you going to make a siderail cap for the third generation? I like the look of this tailgate cap, and would like some side rails to go with it! Of course I hope that the existing rack I have would still work with it.

The final prototype for the 3rd gen side rail cap is in the hands of our laser cutter.

How about a solid stainless tailgate cover?

It's an interesting idea, but I don't see a huge market for it.

I built probably 50-60 of them for FJ60s a few years back but don't have the access to the equipment like I did then or I would do it myself. I think you might sell more than you think. A solid smooth cover that is easy to clean would be great for people that camp, hunt & fish out of these trucks.

    Something like this.7312B3F6-EE4D-446D-ADE8-110C0B3C6B1C-202-00000014E0E0CC5D_tmp.jpg

Let me know when they are available.. My mad scientist is at work.. I think I want to go with your side rails.. a set of heavy duty bed cross bars, and another basket (without sliders). I am then gong to mount the one with sliders beneath the one without, both on the heavy duty cross bars, with a lock device on the bottom one to keep it secure. This will allow me to use both, but still have the bed available.

Did I mention this to you already? Once the new hard top roof tent comes in, we plan on follow along the trans siberian railway to Omsk, which is in Southwestern Siberia. I would love to make the entire trip from London to Hong Kong, but if we do that one it will probably be by train.

There is room. This new tent (skycamp) can fit three adults.

What did you not like about the Mob Town steel tailgate cover? Was it just the weight?

Do you feel steel would be able to take more of a hit than aluminum?

1/8" aluminum is pretty stout. It has a very tasteful thickness to it as well.

    Still waiting for it
    Just weight.
Both are super stout and well made.
The 1/8 more thickness gives a possibly fake comfort in the seal to my des cover.
