    Wouldn't happen to make one that turns down (about an 1") on the outside of the tailgate? Have a rubbing issue where the camper shell door closes and the dog likes to sit with his paws hanging over. Trying to protect the paint in that area.

    Because of the curve of the 2016+ tailgate, that isn't possible with or machines (or anybodies).

    The tailgate, and the tailgate cap, on the 2nd gen trucks was obviously crap, which is why we've sold thousands of replacement caps.

    But Toyota obviously recognized this, and the 3rd gen design is much better (the side rail caps are drastically better as well).

    We feel that on 3rd gens, replacement caps and reinforcement plates aren't necessary at all.

    I believe they are. The tailgate cap is a very soft plastic that I've dented plenty of times from leaning heavy objects against it. The bed is a different material and not as soft.

    Nope. The 3rd gen tailgate is pretty good, there’s really no need for a metal replacement.

    I’m picking up a Polaris Ranger and plan on riding it at KB Moto.

    Man... got my hopes up when I saw an update to this thread. I had my bed rail caps removed for my bed rack, replaced with 1/4" steel. I want to replace the tailgate cap too, but I like the slow drop too much to buy a steel cap.
