    Just saw a Gen 2 with a Gen 3 tailgate on I-40 E today. It was white and the body lines do not exactly line up but I guess it works. Took me a second to realize what the hell I was looking at haha

    not what op was asking. And yes I'm sure that 3rd gen tailgate will fit that 3rd gen bed...

    Cross posting from a similar thread. Just a pic from the wild, no details on how it was done beyond grafting the 3rd gen panel to the 2nd tailgate. Cutting, welding and bodywork, not me or the OP.

    Personally as stated, the body lines not fully matching on the bottom throw me off. I like the idea of the stamped Tacoma and relief cut detail for dimension, but only if it fully matched all other lines.
