Owner of a 2019 here. Just trying to get a feel of those that went from a 3rd gen to a 4th gen and after the newness wore off, if it was ether “worth it”, “Meh” or “should have kept my payed off 3rd gen”

I test drove a 4th gen and liked it, but everything is great being that its different and new.

Test drove 2 have had deposits on 3 and offered 3 buyer backouts. Have never been this indecisive about a new taco and usually I’m like sold, take my money. I did a write up but it’s def a different truck from prior gen’s. But if you like it grab it!

sure, unless you prefer a motor with no torque, less mpg and a transmission that doesn't know what gear it wants to be in.

Same old conversation comes up…blah blah. I had a 2nd gen and yeah, 4th is way better all the way around. It’s better than the 3rd gen I helped my daughter pick out. It’s just better. That’s not saying it has the same long term reliability, we wont know that for some time but when it’s working, which is always so far, it’s better.

@Mallcrawler20 and @TacoBuffet do not own one so their posts are void. Not even sure why they’re commenting.

I had a ‘21 TRD OR and my new truck is leaps ahead and zero post buyers remorse after 1600 miles.

Engine actually makes low end power so you don’t need to ring it out at all. Rarely get over 3500rpm

Shifts are very very smooth. Instead of downshifting, it’ll spool up a bit and get you going. A steep hill I commute on would normally need 4th gear, sometimes even 3rd. This truck can do it in 8th gear without downshifting.

Around 20/21mpg with 33s. In a hilly region.

Seating position is way better and more comfortable.

Things I’m not crazy about are the 18 gallon tank and the turning radius. But both are livable.

You have a nice truck, but factory warranty running out. How many miles?

I already sold my 3rd gen, mostly because it had some engine issues so was easy to say bye, and shopping for a ‘24 currently.

For the first time since 2005 we have a completely new truck. Fully boxed beefed up frame, coil spring rear suspension, rear disc brakes, powerful engine with great torque, completely new modern styling. Modern technology finally. What’s there not to be excited about? Almost 20 years of the “same truck” time to move on and glad I did even with the “risks”

I really like mine. For having just an SR5 it's got plenty of features and nothing I don't need. First time I've had a heated steering wheel on a vehicle, that was an interesting surprise.

The new turbo 4 and 8 speed automatic is finally a good matched pair unlike the 3rd gens 3.5 and 6 speed combo's (both AT and MT, I've owned both). I consistently get 24-25 mpg hand calculated each tank.

Agreed, the seating position finally is normal. Never had heated seats will be so nice in winter. Your spot on with the pairing of the engine and trans too.

Heated seats are awesome in the winter. I've had several vehicles with them!

I will say keep an eye on the oil level. My truck is about 2,000 miles in and appears to have used a little oil. I feel like I'm owning a turbo VW again... o_O

Owners booklet says oil usage during break in is normal. Thanks I’ll keep an eye on it though

That's why I'm not concerned too much. Same thing happened on my GTI that I bought new. Finally leveled out. If SHTF I'll just turn it in after my 3 years and buy something else

However for folks that don't check things that might prove interesting if they go by the book... o_O
