I originally purchased a 2018 Tacoma Limited 6 months ago that came with the OEM tri-fold hard tonneau cover.

Last week I traded it in for a 2019 Tacoma TRD Offroad and they let me take the tonneau cover, but forgot to give us the rail system. I called yesterday to see if they could give me the one that was left on the Limited or even order one and they stated that they can't order that particular part. I've called several shops and dealerships and it seems like the OEM rail system can't be ordered without buying the complete kit (cover and rails). I find that hard to believe. What does someone do if they get rear-ended and need the rail system replaced?

Are there any sites that sell the rails that'll fit the OEM tonneau or will I need to just go all 3rd party with a new system?

Curious about the same thing. I found an OEM 3rd gen toneau on Craigslist for $300 but the guy said it didn’t have any of the “hardware.” Curious what I would need to make it work on my DCSB.

I’d just go to the dealership and speak with someone other than the guy on the phone. They should be able to get that rail off your old truck. If not maybe a salvage yard.

I spoke to the dealership later today and they already have the 2018 on the lot for sale so they said they can't touch anything as it's listed in the system with the accessories (and they put a new tonneau cover on it). Anyways, I ended up ordering an Extang Solid Fold 2.0 from Autoanything.com since they were having a good sale today.

Now the only problem I'll be facing is trying to sell the OEM tonneau without the hardware/rails.

Sorry to hear you had to shell out more money.
Have fun with the new rig.

Is the rail you guys are talking about the standard rail that comes with the truck stock? Or is there a separate rail specifically for the factory toneau?

Yes, the OEM tonneau cover latches on special rails that come factory installed. They have bolts for the cover to latch on to which makes it extremely secure. On top of that there is about a 4 inch bolt that screws in the front via cap making it even tighter.

The farkles have started and on order
I just got a 2018 limited with the factory tonneau cover and it leaks. I put weatherstriping under the seal and still leaks. The cover does not sit down tight on the top of the bed. Does anyone know if there is any adjustments to make it latch tighter to the top of the bed?

If it's not sitting flush on top of the bed, are you sure it's on 100%? I'd definitely have the service dept look at it.

I don't remember mine ever leaking before I ever took it off (even went through a laser wash), but when I took it off for the first time and put it on I noticed leaks near the cab. I realized one of the hooks wasn't latched all the way.
