3rd gen taco. I have never built an ifs truck and so my knowledge with control arms and the like is very limited. Been looking at the Total Chaos and see that they offer a heim joint version that is a couple hundred more than the uni-ball version. Obviously strength is my primary concern but availability and ease of repair on the trail are close seconds.

Are these things pretty durable? Are they available? Are they loud? How easy are they to change out on the trail?

They are both uniball. The heim version is for mounting to the frame side and allows for more adjustability.

So its basically just got heims instead of the poly bushings then? That doesnt hardly seem worth an extra $200-$250.

The heims will allow more movement or articulation than a bushing, but for most it’s not needed.

Simple enough. That makes my decision easier, and cheaper.

They are for alignment, bushing and heim will have the same range of travel.

Maintaining the alignment though right? I would think that with either you could get the same numbers but as the bushing wear out you may get some slop....?

You can align the truck using the heims to push the uniball forward/backwards, in/out, same principle as the LCA alignment, just on top. With bushings the UCA is stuck in one spot, no alignment possible from the UCA. The adjustment has nothing to do with anything wearing out.
