yes put a dab of gorilla glue on the fluid check bolt flange

a thin smear, let it dry for a day at least

if they crack the bolt your glue will be cracked

and they MUST remove the bolt to do the jorb

Took my Tacoma to the dealership to check the transmission. They had to keep it overnight to check while cold and gave me a new Carolla loaner for free.
    It was a quart low!
    My dealer has been great.

Just got my truck back from an overnight stay at the dealership. Transmission fluid was a quart low. They topped it off and did the rest of the 5k service as well as checking all fluids and greasing my U-Joints.

I think all the dealer technicians are doing is using the Techstream to check for codes .
No codes , fluid level is fine .
If transmission codes are popping up , they investigate the fluid level according to Toyota diagnostics for the transmission .
I have a work around for this but it will take me some time to put into play .
If the dealer techs are not going to check the fluid , we need to force them to check it .
Back in a bit with more info
    Please vote guys

60 percent of the dealers lie to us when we take our trucks in to have the transmission fluid checked properly .
We leave our trucks at the dealer overnight or all day in trust the procedure will be performed and our transmissions will be filled when we pick up our trucks only to hear they couldnt reproduce the concern or we checked it and the level was fine .
    Its time for payback
When you guys take your truck into the dealer , I want you to lie to them . You need to tell them that the truck had a serious delay from reverse to drive when it was cold .
Tell them that as you backed out of the driveway you saw a puddle of red fluid where the truck was sitting overnight .
I have more , this is just 1 scenario

    I've voted.
I think you're right on the scantool. I get it that the person I talk to is second hand info, but I specifically said "I want it manually checked, no scanner"
Their first story in the afternoon was "he topped off all fluids" when pressed on how much, it was "trans was fine so no fluid" then I told them I checked it 2 days ago with video and its low, the story was "well, let me talk to the service manager and he'll meet you personally in the morning"
Just like the ESPN clip. C'mon Maaan!?!

Anybody know if it's true that they cannot reset your TCM learning without verifying a slip? I asked for it but they won't until I show them a R to D slip in the morning.

Have your ducks in a row fellas. Don't go in there expecting a malleable, feather touch customer service experience. Be ready to dig.

Took mine in today and they went to check trans fluid and about half hour later came back and said I had to bring it back next week when they can give me a loaner. Said trans temp was 180 and has to be 140 to check it. So they will let it sit over night then warm it up to 140 I guess. I am just happy to get it checked.

Thanks! I am so tired of these service departments not knowing anything! Just like when I let them change my oil and they said their book showed something different than owners man. Bunch of BS!

Hey when you guys describe the slip from P to D or R to D could you be more descriptive. What I have noticed is that its slow from P to D or R to D, I break then shift the motor revs and there's a delay. I didn't think it was a big deal but honestly every car or truck whatever is different.

Left my 2016 at the dealer all day for them to check everything out (u bolts, tranny fluid etc) after finding my diff fluids were low. Got the call this evening that everything checked fine. No tranny symptoms, my truck drives great so far. Picking it up tomorrow.

I feel guilty doubting if they really didn't check things....

Some folks get a full on, 3-5 second delay with an engine rev delay. But mine is more like, R out of my spot, full stop, D, creep forward at like half throttle response slip, then bang, full on first gear.
So I get forward motion, but almost a 2 step engagement of first gear.
    Hopefully clear-ish.

    Don't.
They are operating based on volume, whereas you are operating on individual quality. They see possibly hundreds of cars a week for a large majority of customers who, given the chance, would drive 25miles with an oil light, (eg. General public). So they expect you are one of those folks. They think "good" is a quantitative measure. The words "top off" will pacify 95% of the general public, so they say it. "Checked" is likewise thrown around. "No visual leaks, 2000miles, it must be full. "Checked Good"".
Dig for your answers, if you want them.

Thats crazy so you put in your break and move the shifter from P to D and it does one.... two.... three... hard shift?
