3rd Gen Transmission Fluid level Check

Did you mark the overflow plug with paint or something to see if they actually checked it?

 

No, but I'm requests not to talk directly to the tech to go over the procedure he followed to check it and I want to know how much oil came out when he checked it.

I'm probably going to have to do this myself to ensure, without a doubt, that it's done right.

 

yep, just do it yourself. like mine they most likely used tech stream which
does not measure the level, it just looks for error codes.

 

My transmission pan is covered in dirt I'll know if they check mine today

 

Seems the dealers are still hesitant checking the fluid levels .
They dont want to check your fluid level and the technician doesnt get paid well to check your fluid so he is going to try his best to cut a few corners .
Print off the document for your truck and ask the technician if he will be following this procedure .
Print off the PDI check list and hand it to the service manager . The check list shows that the fluid level in the transmission should have been checked during PDI
Paint your overflow plug so you know its been tampered with .
I am going to suggest arming yourself with the proper paper work and a call to corporate before you guys take your trucks in to the dealer
If you open a case number with corporate , the dealer gets paid , the technician gets paid and you are providing a track record in the hopes a tsb will be released .

 

had the dealer check mine,they said it was good.I added 1 qt of atf my self and it seem to help wright of the batWHAT THE HELL IS THE PRE-DELIVERY INSPECTION FOR I KNOW I PAID FOR IT?

 

mine was 3/4 quart low. i never called the 800 number, but may try to get them to give me an extended warranty anyway.

 

Got a call back from Corp. We discussed ALL the issues we're seeing here and
he said "we are aware of them and are working on resolution".
It ended with.... we'll need a few days to research it and get back with you.

I've actually sent those links in my email communication initially, doubt
they'd look but it sure would move things along.

 

Mine was dirty too, but I didn't look at it before I took my truck in. When I got my truck back, I looked underneath to see if I could tell and it was clean around the overflow plug while the rest of the pan was dirty. They could've cleaned the whole pan, but I figured they did that to show as proof... unless, the tech is that crooked and just cleaned that area but didn't actually check the fluid level. lol

Update!
Got a call from Kieth Pierson Toyota (2nd dealer) this afternoon. Truck was 1.25qt low in the tranny. They've filled it and reset the TCU as well. Picked it up and it already seems to shift better. Stayed in 6th gear on the interstate too, which never happened before.

glad it worked out man! Unreal the bullshit we've got to go through to
get Toyota and dealers to do their friggin job right.

 

Conformed. They did not check my level but told me they did. No mention of a check on the invoice... Only a test drive and unable to reproduce. I'll open a case with Toyota Monday morning.

 

Emailed Toyota regarding this issue to open a ticket on my behalf. I also attached about 15 screenshots I've been saving of service records showing folks low on ATF fluid. Hopefully this gets the point across.

 

day 2 of not getting a call back from my "case worker" was emailed on 4/6 saying I'd receive a call by COB on 4/7...its now COB on 4/8.
