First of all this is not one of those beating the dead horse 3rd Gen Auto-Transmission Threads...

Today, I had my transmission fluid changed by a local auto shop that works on all of the DHS fleet cars here in my office. He drained all the fluid and replaced. From the first mile of driving I have noticed a radical difference in function and performance of the transmission. The transmission is not making any noises, shifts positive and is not searching around constantly for a gear...Either this guy broke the transmission so it is working correctly or my transmission is now full as it should have been when I purchased the 2016 Tacoma (I do have a tow package). In the past I have had it in a the dealer a couple of time and had them look at this while fixing other things, which I was told everything was up to specs...

    I'm just saying...

You might be onto something. Did he mention how much trans fluid came out?

I'll be honest, no...I do now he told me he would be using 10 quarts so he could conduct a flush at the same time...The great part is it cost me $134...including labor and materials...Not the $375+ Toyota charges...

WOW, you went that long on reduced fluid.... Geeze. !! I was lucky. I felt it was low as soon as I drove it for a while... dealer would NOT check it physically. I learned how to do it on TW and it was in fact 1 1/2 Liters low. Filled her up and it made a big difference.
Hope your tranny is not hurt by this. I think they are pretty good quality, so you should be ok...!! :fingerscrossed:

Not questioning your tech, especially since it appears to be shifting better! I have heard a lot of people say the WS fluid is not very good. Just wondering what the actual product was. May be a good choice for other Toyota owners when they come due for a fluid exchange...

How can you flush a transmission without a drain plug?

no it doesn't. Sealed system. It has an overflow tube with a plug. You fill till it overflows the drain tube. Removing that "drain plug" under temp or under filled, no fluid will come out. Not possible to "Flush" especially with only 10 quarts. Super boring/interesting video on how new age Toyota transmission are checked and filled - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cNcecuGzTDg

    Did the tranny get reset?

Give it time. I dont think that fluid flush is going to fix that dumpsterfire of a transmission.

Drain plugs drain things. The transmission does not have a drain plug. Go open it right now, you will not get more that a few ounces out. Watch the video. Don't shoot the messenger.
