Have the 2lo Mod that’s been in the garage for a month that finally went on today. MESO puddle pods out there too. Uptop Bravo still on the floor. Waiting on the 110v in-cab to ship. OVTune for 1.5 years. More crap I shouldn’t list.

    Hello @Coupe & TW.

I understand that this is the 3rd Gen section but from what I read these battery hold-down kits work on 2nd & 3rd gens.
1st pic is what I did this morning after installing my 34R battery.
2nd pic is what I am inquiring about.
3rd pic is what I am inquiring about also.

What I did today is very secure BUT I don't know if that aluminum angle piece will eventually slide towards the (+) terminal and make contact AND this isn't exactly the prettiest set-up that I have going on either. I posted this on TW Facebook & someone mentioned this (refer to 2nd pic):

SDHQ BUILT TOYOTA 34R BILLET BATTERY HOLD DOWN
    • SDHQ-50-3005-U1
MSRP: Regular price$39.95. Your PRICE: $36.95

    • Secure your vehicle's battery with SDHQ's Billet Battery Hold Down. Manufactured out high quality 6061 Aluminum, this billet hold down replaces your steel factory hold down.

      KEY FEATURES:
      • Billet Aluminum Hold Down replaces factory sheet metal hold down.
      • Anodized Hold Down for durability.
      • Billet Aluminum for strength
      • Easy driveway installation, no drilling or trimming required.
      • Fits 34R size batteries only.
      • Hardware Kit
        • (2) - ¼” S.S. with Rubber Sealing Washers
        • (1) - ¼” - 20 x 7” J-Hook
        • (1) - ¼” - 20 S.S. Serrated Flange Nut
        • (2) - M6 - 1.0 S.S. Serrated Flange Nut
        • (1) - 1” x 6” Strip of Neoprene Rubber
      FITMENT:
      • 2005-Current Toyota Tacoma

Then I looked it up via TW and found this thread & this hold down (refer to 3rd pic):
Price for the adjustable wide is $65 for raw aluminum & $85 for powder coated.

Both of your products make full contact across the top of the battery which I like. That alone is better than the OEM hold-down but only the adjustable wide one offers support on the sides as well, not just across the top.

Has there been issues with the battery shifting or sliding with the $36.95 one?

    Thank you

I made the adjustable version to fit the Northstar battery better. I did this mainly for the Tundra guys but it works the same with the Tacoma. The Northstar battery has a recessed ledge around the top. The adjustable jaws allow you to grip the battery snugly.

If you do not have something on the sides to retain the battery, that means you will have to crank the nuts down on the studs tighter to retain the battery as you are relying only compression from the j-hooks/nuts.

My battery is 6 5/8"'s wide. Will the adjustable jaws work with my battery?

I have these at work. I know the maximum dimension is 7", but I for get the minimum dimension. I will check in the morning and post the results.

The minimum dimsnions is 6". So the jaws will fit this battery.

OP, do you make a thin version with the adjustable sides?

I'd be interested in a red gloss (black TRD) thin version.

I do not make an adjustable thin version.

The people that use the thin version usually have a non sealed battery. The narrow is needed if the battery caps are close together. You need at least 1 1/8" between the battery caps to use a wide version.

If you have a non sealed battery and your battery is over filled. The acid from the battery is strong enough to attack the aluminum, even if it is powercoated.

I have known people to have these on non sealed batteries without issues, but I have seen some occurances lately where battery acid has attacked the aluminum.

I do have a gloss red w/black TRD in stock.

I'd like to buy one of these as soon as I can figure out what the best new battery is on the market.
