There’s an older post @OVTune made. Basically the Camry 301 HP or whatever isn’t accurate

So the only difference between the two engines is the compression ratio on the pistons (other than the obvious presence of two turbos)? Taco runs 12:1 and that Lex runs 10.48:1

I guess so... Is the compression something that can be altered with a tune if we adopt the TT kit that Lexus might offer?

Complicated question. With the tacos variable atkinson-otto cycle operation most likely there is a way to achieve that. Tune it so the engine runs halfway between both settings. In full Atkinson mode compression drops to like 8.6:1. However, usually that would be a swap for a different piston set. May still require that because it doesn't say if the Lexus has forged pistons. I know the taco has forged rods and crank but highly doubt that it has forged pistons which would be necessary to safely run boost.

So prolly better off doing a full engine swap instead?

Post in the previous page of this thread

"the LS500 3.5L shares some things, but majority of things are different, better / more complex designed than the FKS. Right now information is limited but I did get to inspect one up close. It has the same single port cylinder head, possible chance of the same flange type, which would mean OEM turbos would bolt to the tacoma engine."

    I don't know.

I would prefer the instant torque of a PD blower (Whipple, Eaton TVS (Magnuson) ect.... ) over turbos or centrifugal for the nature of a Truck
If I have to swap it would be Coyote powered.

Yeah I've been kicking around the idea of a 1JZ swap for plenty of power and reliability to match

Bw s256 turbo with 3 in glass pack dumped pre axle raptor liner bed and top rails and fenderflares and rocker panels. Hunter side steps. Plasti-dipped upper fenders and emblems. satin black spray paint here and there inside and out. 5100's set to 1.75" up front . C channel front bumper. Maxxis bighorn 255/85/16
Properly sized ball bearing turbos would have no real noticable lag and be way more efficient and capable than any SC

Just have someone make you a custom turbo kit, people do it everyday. Oh and if your interested in a magnuson supercharger, there is one for sale on the Arizona classifieds page.

For real! "You know what would solve my power problem? If I replaced the 260 horsepower, 3.5L V6 with a 25-year old, 2.5L STRAIGHT six that only made 160 horsepower!"

Unless you meant the 1JZ-GTE, which has the extra benefit of being both 25 years old and famously being always broken

i don't understand why people are talking about swapping the new LS motor into these cars. Like anyone on here is really going to spend 10-20k buying this motor and swapping it in?

    Jesus god this thread

No. The compression ratio is defined by the pistons and the cylinder head design and they cannot be changed with a ECU reflash you have to take the engine apart and replace or modify either the pistons or the cylinder head

It is a law of all car forums that some people will discuss the practicalities of an LS swap. It doesn't matter what the car in question is.

On the same page you glossed over to write this. Though not an actual change in compression, the Intake VVTiw and Exhaust VVTi of the 2GR-FKS allows for a wide range of simulated variable compression ratios, which is how the Simulated Atkinson Cycle portion of the engine works.
