    Not sure where you get that I am bashing anything. I don't care what you run as long as it doesn't blind me when I am headed your way. This is about what I did and is the ultimate option without going HID or LEDs.

    Changed the title by adding the word Halogen. This thread is not meant to debate what is best just what I did and is another option to LED/HIDs.

    Just going from what you're writing... not trying to argue, your truck do as you will, I have no problems with that. BUT saying your gear is "the" solution is where I'm jumping off the ship bro.

    i run LEDs don't blind anyone and the cutout works.. no need to run 10/12ga wire or a new fuse. If you add up what YOU needed for your light mod there's some serious coin invested. For a 200 hr bulb .... I think my LEDs have a ... wait for it... 40,000 hr guarantied life span.

    From your posts:
    ""Rather than trying to change the technology that is used by the halogen reflector headlights (like improperly stuffing HID or LED bulbs in a reflector lens designed specifically for halogen bulbs)"

    And....:

    "I do do a lot of night driving that is why I did this. I bought spares and was willing to make the bulb life sacrifice for 2x the light without the HID/LED issues."

    The first quote is mine from the 2nd gen headlight thread and says specifically halogen reflector lens technology, which still pertains to the 3rd gen fogs the OP said he was going to update the thread about.

    @Glenn_R i would like to do this mod but i am not that good with car electronics and wiring... I did install fog lights on mi sr so I know a little bit.. would you post which harness do I have to buy? And when get that harness what I need to do is connect that harness to the battery and connect the old plugs into that harness and the new bulbs to that harness? I don't get how the new harness is conected to the car wiring..

    And another question, have you determined that is safe for the headlights to have a bulb Lili this one burning a lot hotter than the stock 55w??

    Thanks in advance!!!

    Using a stand alone harness is covered well here. It is not hard to run the new harness and it is driven from one of the head/fog light OEM plugs. He also measured the temps with an IR gun and they seem to be fine. I will measure again when it get hot here.

    For anyone wondering about stock halogen bulbs (h9/h11), my google fu skills show the Phillips Extreme Vision H11 are about the best bulb you can buy, and any big name manufacturer (Phillips, Sylvania, Osram, Narva) who makes a regular clear glass H9 is about the best you can get.

    Look up the H11 to H9 mod, trim a guide and snip a tab and they fit right in. Subaru guys have been doing it for a few years now.

    H11 = 55w
    H9 = 65w

    These are not stock bulbs and do require better wiring. There was improved performance with just the increased gauge wiring. These are not 55W bulb and are not DOT approved.

    Except H9 bulbs are high beam bulbs with no end caps and thus blind oncoming traffic when used it reflector housings (1st and 2nd gen)

    Just did the h11 to h9 conversion on a 3rd gen low beam. Sylvania type 2 and it is a nice Improvement ! It does not scatter the beam and blind oncoming traffic with the projector. I am impressed and will be doing the same to my fogs

    Did the same with my ‘17 on day 3 of ownership. The H9 is a nice upgrade but I’m curious what the VLED Micro does. I ordered a set today and will install when I’m back home in two weeks.
    However for $22 and about 10 mins of my time, the H9 swap is well worth it.

    H9 doesn't scatter the headlight beam on because it is in a projector. The H9 has no glare cap, so putting it into the reflector fogs is going to cause glare.

    Yes... I did it and it causes glare and I didn’t see any upgrade on the light output...

    Did the Micro install about two weeks ago. Really happy with them. Output seems about the same as the H9 but whiter of course.

    Compared the two here:

    One of the things I should do is separate how to photograph a bulb upgrade from my 921 thread. Because the photos in there mean nothing since there is no control point.

    Edit: To clarify that is to say the camera will auto adjust the appature to allow more or less light in depending on the focus point, which will make the lights appear brighter or dimmer than they actually are. This makes 2 separate light output photos almost impossible to compare.
