#3 This truck is the quietest, smoothest riding truck I've owned. While this is not a requirement for me, it is nice.

Sounds like you don’t need a truck.

Fiat wanted to save money by sharing platforms with their afiat brands. The Renegade is just a Fiat 500x. The Cherokee is the same platform that underpinned the Chrysler 200.

I think “true” off-road vehicles or body on frame vehicle derivatives are quickly becoming more niche market vehicles. There are just more soccer moms and dudes who want the look but still want a car.

$50 says that the upcoming Ford Bronco will be a unibody version of a Wrangler imitator. Sure you can remove the doors and top but it’s basically gonna be a lifted Focus or something. Just like the latest Chevy Blazer.

That being said, Toyota can still make vast and necessary improvements to the current 4Runner. Stuff like power tailgates and TSS, sensors, etc. it would pull those “creature comfort” people yet still have the skeleton of a decent off-road vehicle.

I just don’t see the 4Runner being a worthwhile vehicle as is. $45-$50k for a vehicle that has 20 year old technology in it.

4Rs are very nice. We looked hard at them before I succumbed to the TRD OR.

The slight howl is no big deal. It's a frigging 4x4 truck

I don’t know if it’s popular or unpopular, but the design and finish of the 3G Tacoma interior is friggin beautiful. So sleek, practical, quality-looking, and absolutely pleasing in design. I am a fan of this sort of thing (obviously), and no one tops the Tacoma interior in my mind. Ford can’t do it, Jeep can’t do it, and even Toyota can’t do it in their other models. It’s a triumph of design.

I only need a two seater, so a 4Runner might be over kill for my needs, and a PU bed does come in handy. Might even go with a Tundra.

This is a small one but I've seen complaints because they have no driver's side grab handle. I've never used one while driving so I don't understand the complaints.
I'm perfectly happy with my truck and plan on keeping it until I get tired of it.

I agree, even with cruise control on for a 30 mile highway drive. Haven't had an transmission/ecu TSB done.

I honestly don't need a truck. I drove my Legacy on "performance radials" all winter.

We had a very rainy winter, along with a fair amount of snow and very little accumulation.

I haven't had a need to use the Tacoma, other than to pick up things for the Tacoma.

I LOL when people say the light output of the stock headlights on the Tacoma are garbage. You either have never driven a car with garbage headlights or need to get your vision checked.

The last time I saw a review off stock headlights. The halogen units out performed the HID units, can't remember if there was any LED lights tested. This was a few years ago, might have been a Top Gear episode. All the vehicles tested were domestic European models. Which tend to have better lighting systems, over their North American counter parts.

I'd think halogen projectors would light up the road very well.

That the a-Trac and stock locker are a waste of space.

On 265/75r16. Haven't had to get pulled out yet.

I'll add another unpopular opinion. I'm of the opinion that if more folks read their owners manual and saw that there IS a break in period consisting of a total of 1000 miles and followed it, maybe some of the mechanical based complaints would come to an end.

Supposed to be things Toyota did right. But you are entitled to your opinion.
